123: backstage

Elaine's POV

After mom and I made dinner Billie walked in and I could tell that she was pissed. She greeted us then went upstairs. When Skylar was done bathing she came back.

Elaine: Sadie go tell mom dinner is ready

She went on and told her that dinner was ready. Then quickly came back

Skylar: she said she's coming

Elaine: okay

To be honest with you I was just taking chances by calling her, when she's mad at me she doesn't eat. She comes down after sometime and she sits across me in the dinning table. So we were now looking at each other. Skylar was sitting next to mom eating. We eat but she just fiddles with her food.

Sandra: Billie are you okay?

Billie: (fakes smile) yeah I just have a lot on my mind

Sandra: you should eat dear

We eat and it was so awkward between Billie and I you could cut the tension with a knife. After we were done eating she went back upstairs, mom helped me clean up and wash dishes. We have a dish washing machine and  a helper but I was dreading going to the bedroom so yeah.

Sandra: Elaine what happened?

Elaine: nothing

Sandra: you know I'm not a fool right?

Elaine: yes mom I know

Sandra: so what happened?

Elaine: I don't want to talk about it

Sandra: okay whatever it is I hope you sort it out

Elaine: we will

We wash dishes then I tuck Skylar in bed then I go to the lion's den. When I got there I find her on her laptop, I try to massage her but she takes my hands off of her. I sit on the bed look at her.

Elaine: baby I'm sorry

Billie: (silence)

Elaine: Billie I thought that it was just a silly crush I swear, I thought she'd grow out of it

She turned around and looked at me with her bad bitch face. I spoke and spoke then after I was done she took a blanket and slept on the couch, we had a couch in our bedroom.

Elaine: are you gonna sleep there?

Billie: (silence)

Elaine: okay good night I guess, I love you

I got in bed and tears streamed out of my face. I hate it when Billie is not talking to me, we never go to bed angry with each other but today she was furious. I guess I cried myself to sleep because the next thing I knew it was already six in the morning.

Billie was no longer in the room, I make the bed and go freshen up. After freshening up I go to the venue and I find Billie's car outside. I get inside and find our planner.

Planner: morning ma'am how are you?

Elaine: I'm good you?

Planner: I'm good

Elaine: so how far are you with everything

Planner: we'll be done by ten we just have to do a few things

Elaine: okay when will the cake arrive?

Planner: uhm they said they'll deliver it around eleven

Elaine: oh okay, please make sure all the balloons are there okay?

Planner: yes ma'am

Elaine: Uhm have you seen my wife?

Planner: yes she's at the back of the stage

Elaine: okay thank you

I go backstage and find Billie talking to some guys, sound engineers I assume. Billie was facing the other direction so when I approached them they greeted me and excused themselves.

Elaine: hey

Billie: hi

Elaine: coffee?

She takes the coffee and takes a sip.

Billie: it's good thank you

Elaine: uhm, Billie....

When I was about to apologize Andrew came to us.

Andrew: how are you?

Billie: good

Elaine: yeah we're good, I have to go check something

Andrew: bye

I walked away and went to the planner.

Elaine: you got rose gold and soft pink balloons right?

Planner: yes but it seems that we have a shortage, we can only get two thousand five hundred balloons and you wanted three thousand balloons.

Elaine: (sigh) okay let me make a few phone calls

I walk away a little and feel eyes on me, when I turn around Billie was staring at me. I steal a glance at her and continue arranging on the phone. After a few phone calls I get the balloons.

Elaine: okay the balloons will be here in half an hour

Planner: okay

Elaine: I have  to go now

Billie's POV

I kept getting distracted by Elaine, I don't know why but everytime I was mad at her she looked even more beautiful. After a few minutes of not seeing her I went to the planner.

Billie: have you seen my wife?

Planner: she just left

Billie: oh okay thank you

When I heard that she left my heart sank a little. It was nice seeing her in my hoodie.
