153: pinky promise

Elaine's POV

Today Billie and I had an ultrasound appointment, but I was still preparing Skylar for school.

Skylar: mommie I want to go with you

Elaine: you have school remember?

Skylar: (pouts)

Elaine: don't be sad I'll bring you a picture of the baby okay?

Skylar: how will the doctor take a picture of the baby? will you swallow the camera too?

Elaine: (giggle) no baby they'll take it with a machine

She looks at me puzzled but she doesn't ask.

Elaine: sit down so mommie can tie your hair

Skylar: glitter?

Elaine: no baby you can't put glitter on your hair

She walks up to the corner of the room and hide behind the door. Now I regret putting glitter on her hair yesterday when I was playing dress up with her.

Elaine: Sade O'Connell

Skylar: (pouts) but mommie

Elaine: huh you'll do it after school

Billie came in and I hadn't tied Skylar's hair.

Billie: what's going on?

Elaine: your daughter wants glitter on her hair

Billie: Skylar come here

She walks up to Billie

Billie: baby why you troubling mommie?

She just blinks her butterfly lashes at her

Billie: baby you shouldn't stress mommie it's not good for the baby okay?

Skylar: (nods)

Billie: now go to mommie and get your hair tied, your teacher will be here any minute now okay?

She nods then comes to me and I tie her hair into space buns. After that I prepare for our appointment then Billie and I leave. We were now in the car and we were talking about random things.

Elaine: I just hope that everything is fine

Billie: yeah it has to be fine

Elaine: (giggle) thank you

Billie: for?

Elaine: I know how much you love your job and how demanding it is, but you always make time to be with me

Billie: baby you're my wife I have to be there

I brush the back of her neck

Elaine: thank you

She just smiles at me then brushes my thigh as I was wearing a summer dress

Billie: I'm grateful to have someone like you, who understands me and my line of work

Elaine: I love you Eilish and don't go breaking my heart

I nonchalantly say that while inclining the seat and closing my eyes to nap.

Billie: I promise I'll never break your heart

Elaine: I know you won't

Billie: I love you baby mama

I then doze off, after a while Billie gently wakes me up when we get to where we were going. I get there and the doctor examines me then does an ultrasound, he gives me my due date. After the appointment Billie takes me to a picnic, where we had our first date.

Elaine: this place is just beautiful isn't it?

Billie: yeah it is

Elaine: I remember the first time you brought me here

Billie: (chuckle) I thought you forgot

Elaine: I never forget things you do for me

Billie: and the ones I do to you

Elaine: (giggle) gosh Billie you're so embarrassing

She just chuckles and feeds me a strawberry.

Elaine: so how is the album going?

Billie: I've put it on hold so I can focus on our family

Elaine: baby look I know extending our family is a big thing for both of us but you don't have to put your career on pause for us, it is unfair to you and to your fans for me to ask you to take a two year break. I know I asked you to take a break but I meant only from going to tour not releasing new music.

I say that while holding her hands

Billie: baby I have to be there, I want to be there when he is born, for all the sleepless nights, when he starts on solids, when he says mama for the first time, when he crawls, when he stands and walk for the first time. I want to be present for his every first time.

Elaine: but baby...

Billie: ssshhh baby it's okay

Elaine: promise me you won't stop making music for your fans and that you'll go on tour after a year?

Billie: I promise

We make a pinky promise, like I said before in our house you never break a pinky promise. After sometime we went back home and found Skylar eagerly waiting for us.

Skylar: mommie and mom where's the picture?

Elaine: come give me a kiss first

She comes and kiss my cheek the go kiss Billie too. She then demands the picture, I give it to her and she looks even more puzzled.

Skylar: mommie why is your tummy black?

Elaine: it's not black

Skylar: then why is the baby black?

Elaine: it's the camera they took the picture with

Skylar: huh?

Billie goes on and try to explain to her but she doesn't get it.
