116: don't cry princess

Elaine's POV

Skylar and I have been anxiously waiting for Billie as the show was about to start, and Skylar was getting more impatient with every minute that passed. Billie had promised that she'd be here for Skylar's first dance competition. Dance was a way for them to bond so can you imagine how Skylar was gonna react if she found out that Billie didn't make it.

Skylar: mommie where's mom?

Elaine: she's coming baby

I carry Skylar who had tears in her eyes to try and comfort her. Billie has never broken her promise to her so this would be the first if she didn't make it.

Elaine: baby don't cry she's coming okay?

Skylar: (nods)

Elaine: don't cry princess

A few moments later her dance teacher takes her as she was getting ready to hit the stage. I try calling Billie a couple of times but it goes straight to voicemail. Skylar takes the stage and Billie is nowhere to be found. After she got off stage she came to me running.

Skylar: mommie is mom here?

Elaine: no baby she couldn't make it

She puts her head on my shoulder and starts crying.

Elaine: ssshhh baby don't cry, don't cry pretty girl. She got caught up

Then I get a FaceTime from Zara and Claudia

Zara: girl, how did my baby do?

Claudia: yeah how did my favourite neice do?

Elaine: she did well we're still waiting for the results thou

Zara: why is my baby crying?

Elaine: Billie didn't make it

Claudia: what?

Elaine: she said she'll be here she's going to Fin to pick up something

Claudia: she came by then left after probably ten minutes or so

Elaine: so she's not there?

Claudia: no

Elaine: (sigh) she probably got stuck in traffic

Zara: let's hope so

Then a call comes in and it was Alex.

Elaine: I have to go I'm getting another call

Zara: okay bye

Elaine: bye

I drop their call and answer Alex.

Elaine: Alex hey

Alex: hey how are you?

Elaine: I'm good you?

Alex: I'm good so how did the angel do?

Elaine: we're still waiting for the results...oh they're announcing.

Skylar was now asleep in my arms. She took second place which is not bad because this was her first competition.

Alex: she did well

Elaine: thank you

Alex: where's your wife?

Elaine: she couldn't come she's a little busy

Alex: too busy for her daughter?

Elaine: Alex please

Alex: okay I'm sorry

I went on talking to Alex for sometime, after talking to Alex I decide that it's better if we leave plus Skylar had already fallen asleep. I get Skylar in the car and drive, I was so deep in my thoughts thinking how could Billie do such a thing? She promised her and in our house a promise is something that should never be broken. While I was driving like that the car broke down, I got out and noticed that it was a flat tire. I call the insurance company then I try Billie for the millionth time, and she doesn't answer. I think of Zara but she's in Holland and I don't want to disturb Claudia. I wait until a tow arrives then after that I call a cab and we go home. When we get home I wake Skylar up so she can eat and bath.

Skylar: (teary eyes)  mom didn't come?

Elaine: yes baby she couldn't come but she'll get something for you

Skylar: (cries) she promised

Elaine: I know baby but she has to work to get you good things, don't cry princess

She hugs me and cry, yep she's also a crybaby like me. I shush her until she falls asleep then I put her in her bed. Then I go freshen up and watch TV.

After a several hours Billie decides to grace us with her presence, she gets in and tries to kiss me but I look away.

Billie: hey mamas what's wrong?

I raise an eyebrow at her

Billie: what's wrong?

Elaine: (bitter giggle) really?

Billie: what?

Elaine: where have you been I've been tryna call you?

Billie: I was with Andrew we were discussing some visuals

Elaine: (bitter giggle) wow Billie really? I know your jobs is important and stuff but you couldn't spare just a few hours just to be with your daughter after you promised to be with her?

Billie: (eyes widen) shit! I'm so sorry baby it totally slipped my mind

Elaine: I'm not the one you should be apologizing to

I was pissed at Billie but when she told me that she missed our daughter's dance competition for visuals it pissed me off even more, I'm not saying she shouldn't do her job but a few hours for our daughter isn't much to ask for especially when she's the one who got her into dancing.

I get ofr the couch and she tried to touch me but I  yank her off. I then went upstairs to our bedroom and she followed me

Billie: baby I'm sorry

I took her PJs and gave them to her.

Elaine: you're sleeping in the guest room tonight

Billie: what? Over a dance competition?

Elaine: yes it's just a dance competition to you but to Skylar it's not. Do you know the lies I had to tell her whenever she cried because you weren't there?

When I mentioned that Skylar was crying I saw guilt washing over her face.

Billie: okay good night I love you then

Elaine: (clicks tongue) by the way I told Skylar you'd get her something since you were too busy for her

After I said that I got in bed and slept.
