Daddy's Poorly

The next morning Jen walked into Justin's hospital room carrying Rosie.

"Hi sweetheart" Justin's face lit up as soon as he saw her.

"Hi honey"

Jen placed her on the bed and Rosie leant up to his face.

"No don't touch honey" Jen nudged Rosie's hand from his stitches and she looked back getting teary.

"Hey..hey.. what's that for monkey?!" Justin said, lifting her closer and kissing her head "Oh I missed you so much."

"Dada.. ow..ee" Rosie was looking up and down at Justin.

They could see her trying to figure it out, her face was curious as her hands touched different parts of his body.

"Daddy's poorly baby. He needs cuddles" Jen said cutely.

He reached over and grabbed her hand.

"How're you feeling today?" she asked.

"Bit sore but better. I just wanna get home with you girls now"

"We'll look after you. I've got you babe" Jen said, leaning down to kiss him knowing he needed lots of love and attention.

He smiled sweetly in return.

They watched Rosie explore around the room whilst the doctor came and checked on Justin.

"Well you'll be pleased to know from your x-rays that your ankle doesn't need surgery. A lot of rest and it should heal by itself"

"Oh thank god" Justin released a sigh.

"You're breathing is a lot calmer than yesterday. We'll check on you again later and hopefully if all is still the same, you'll be able to go home"

"Thank you doctor" Jen answered as he left.

Late that evening Justin got the all clear and had just arrived home.

"Oh it's good to be home" he said as they pulled on the drive.

"I'll take Rosie in then come and help you" Jen said, getting out to carry Rosie into the house.

As she got to the front door, she heard the car door shut and Justin was leaning on it out of breath from the outside. She put Rosie down and ran back to him.

"Honey, you can't do it alone. I don't want you making yourself worse. I'm here to help you" she said resting her arm through his as he gripped his crutches.

"You've got her to look after, I don't want you worrying about me too" she knew he was reluctant for help but the doctor advised as little activity as possible.

"Honey please" she pleaded.

He gave in and leant against her as he hobbled into the house.

"Come on sweetie, let's get daddy on the couch" she turned back to Rosie, who watched on confused.

They made it to the couch and Jen rested his leg up on a cushion and the coffee table.

"Only took half an hour" Justin huffed.

"We'll figure it out honey. Don't worry. I just want you to rest" she reassured him.

Rosie jumped on the couch next to Justin and curled up his side.

He kissed her head lovingly.

"Someone's gonna be keeping you company anyway" Jen said, watching the lovely sight.

After clearing away dinner, Jen walked back to see Justin and Rosie curled up asleep on the couch.

She stood for a moment, admiring her daughters softness. She was sure Rosie knew something was wrong with Justin, she hadn't left his side all day.

Jen grabbed a blanket and lay it over them both gently.

"Come join us" she was startled by Justin's raspy voice.

She stood behind him, resting her hands around him rubbing his chest lovingly, and kissed the side of his head.

"Sorry honey, didn't mean to wake you" she said quietly.

"I didn't mean to fall asleep" he answered, stroking her arms around him with his free hand.

"You get as much rest as you need.. I'll just get changed and be back" she said, kissing him again before leaving.

She returned and Justin had made a small space for her the other side of him. She curled up perfectly at his side as he wrapped his arm around her.

"Thanks for being the best nurse" he kissed the top of her head.

They looked to Justin's other side at Rosie sprawled out beside him, her head resting on his leg.

"We'll get through this. Take as much time as you need. Don't worry about us, just focus on getting better. I'm here to help you" she reassured him.

"Thanks baby" they kissed sweetly.
