Birthday Boy

A month later

"Happy birthday to you happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Noah, happy birthday to you" they sang out as Noah bounced in Jen's arms on their bed.

Rosie excitedly waved presents and cards in her brothers face.

"You a big boy now Noah" she grinned.

Jen and Justin smiled at each other, watching their interaction.

"He'll be able to have sleepovers when he's a little bigger" Justin added.

"Not yet daddy. Noah too noisy"

Jen chuckled.

"Oh I see" Justin laughed.

"Here Noah. This your present" Rosie passed him a small box which she'd helped Jen wrap the night before.

"You can help him sweetie" Jen encouraged, knowing Rosie was reluctant to take over.

They watched their children rip open numerous presents and smiled with pride.

"This is going better than we thought" Jen whispered to Justin.

"I know. I wonder how long till she realises everything today is for him" he joked.

"I can't believe my little boy is one today" Jen's teary eyes met with Justin's.

"I know. It's gone so fast" Justin wrapped his arms around her sides and kissed her head.

"We're so lucky to have two happy, healthy children" she spoke full of emotion.

"We are. They're the greatest gifts you could have given me"

Jen smiled at him, feeling the same.

She leant forward and kissed him.

"Auntie Jen" Coco's voice came from by the door.

"Yes honey" she turned to her goddaughter.

"Can you do my braids like Rosie's. My mom can't do them as good as you"

Jen and Justin giggled. He stroked her back lovingly, before heading into the garden.

"Of course I can. Sit here" Jen motioned for Coco to sit in between her legs on the kitchen chair.

"Noah said my name so I gave him my toy to play with" Coco sweetly added.

"Oh that's so sweet of you honey. He loves playing with you and the girls" she proudly replied.

"So here's where you're hiding" Court walked in "Am I not good enough anymore" she teased Coco.

"Auntie Jen is better than you mom"

Jen chuckled to Court.

"I see how it is. I'll trade you this little monkey" Court lifted Noah up in the air as he waddled by.

His laughter filled the room.

"I'm afraid I'm not letting him go anytime soon" Jen joked, loving the interaction with her son and best friend.

"Mama" he reached over for Jen.

"Yeah, I would never win this. He's obsessed with you. I just chased him round the whole garden and all he could do was look for you" Court joked.

Jen kissed her son sweetly. "My little prince" she smiled at him in his little shorts and polo shirt.

"He's so adorable. It's not fair how cute your kids are" Court laughed.

"Well this princess is a cutie too... aren't you sweetie" Jen rubbed Coco's head as she admired her new braids.

"You got that right" Court answered proudly, hugging Coco.
