A few days later Jen woke up to a crying Rosie at 4am. It was unlike Rosie to wake up in the night anymore.

When she went to see her, she was stood up in her crib screaming for 'Mama'.

"Oh baby, what's wrong sweetheart?" Jen lifted her out and Rosie latched her arms tightly around her neck resting her head underneath her chin.

Jen swayed her gently trying to calm her down but was having no luck.

She sat on the chair sitting Rosie on her lap and pulled her back slightly. She noticed her face although red from tears, she was quite pale. She felt her forehead and realised she was burning up.

"Are you poorly sweetie?" Jen rocked her.

She carried her back into her bedroom.

"Is she okay?" Justin asked, hearing them sit in the bed.

"I think she's got a temperature. She's restless and hot" Justin took Rosie from her as she left for the bathroom.

"Aww, angel. You're okay" he kissed her sweetly and Jen returned with some medicine.

"I'll give her this and see if it'll settle her for a bit."

After a bit of refusal from Rosie, Jen managed to give her a few spoonfuls of medicine.

"Do you want to sleep with us baby?" Jen asked softly as Rosie was clinging to her chest again.

"Mama"

"Come here sweetheart" Jen lay down with Rosie curled in-between them both, kissing her head.

After a few minutes, Justin noticed Jen watching Rosie

"Try and get some sleep babe. She'll be okay" He reached over, holding her hand knowing she was anxious over their sick baby.

She squeezed his hand and smiled slightly at him.

Later in the afternoon, Jen had just cleaned up some of Rosie's sick.

"Has she been sick again?" Justin asked her, seeing her walk into the kitchen with a bag and bowl.

"Yeah. She's still really hot and pale. I've tried to put her for a nap" Jen answered, continuing to the kitchen.

"Hopefully it's just a quick stomach bug" Justin shouted.

Jen walked back towards Justin in the living room as Rosie started crying again.

Jen huffed slightly and went to fetch her.

"I'm sorry I can't do more to help you babe" Justin said as Jen carried a still crying Rosie into the room.

"It's not your fault honey" Jen tried to reassure him.

"I just feel so helpless" Jen sat next to him on the couch and Rosie calmed down after curling up to Justin.

"You cleaned her up this morning and changed her bed. You aren't meant to be moving your ankle much. You need to rest else you'll get worse" She tried to comfort him, remembering she caught him scrubbing Rosie's bedroom floor earlier.

"She just needs a bit of cuddle time, don't you sweetie" Jen stroked Rosie's back who was leaning on Justin's chest.

"Mama" she reached over to Jen, clinging to her tightly.

"You want mama cuddles now" she said softly, rocking Rosie and kissing her head.

"Mommy will make you better" Justin watched on sweetly as Rosie was falling to sleep.

"Babe, you just rest here with her. I'll sort dinner" Justin started to move off the couch.

"Honey no it's okay, you can't stand that long" Jen tried to stop him.

"I'm okay... I can manage" he tried to reassure her, giving her a look of 'I need to do this'.

Jen paused for a moment, smiling at him "Thank you" she said quietly as he got up.

"Don't worry, I'll shout you if I need help. Just relax" he hobbled off into the kitchen and Jen watched.

"Baby" Jen heard Justin shout after a while.

She placed Rosie amongst the cushions and went to help him.

"It's ready" he said as Jen walked in stunned at what she was seeing.

"..how have you done all this?" she wandered around the table, looking at the candlelit dinner he had laid out.

"I may have one leg out of action but I can still get about babe.. albeit a little slower" he answered as she walked over wrapping her arms around him.

"Thank you honey. It looks incredible" she leant up and kissed him.

"You deserve a medal for putting up with all of this" he kissed her head and led her to the table.

"I'm only doing what you would do for me. I've got you babe" she smiled sweetly across the table to him. Both of them understanding that even when life throws curveballs they get through it together.
