That's Promising

The following morning Justin was up at the crack of dawn. He didn't sleep much worrying about Jen being alone, who would have been worrying about their son.

He left to take a shower whilst Rosie slept some more.

He had a quick phone call with Jen telling her he would be there soon. He packed a few things for her and the baby, and got Rosie ready to leave.

"I see mommy daddy?" she asked as he put her jumper on.

"Yes sweetheart, we're going to the hospital to see mommy" He smiled knowing Jen would be over the moon to see their daughter.

"Why mommy in hospical?" she questioned cutely.

He got level with her on the floor and held her hands trying to explain.

"You know the baby in mommy's tummy.. well mommy has had a little baby boy sweetie and she has to stay with the doctors to make her better"

Rosie smiled sweetly. He wasn't sure she fully understood but her reaction told otherwise.

"I see baby" she bounced.

"You have a little brother. He might be sleeping though so you might not see him today"

"Let's go daddy" she dragged him towards the door and made him smile lovingly.

They arrived at the hospital as soon as visiting hours began.

Rosie was talking all the way there about making her mommy laugh and she was going to kiss her new brother.

"Remember sweetie, you have to be a good girl... This is a busy place and mommy is still a little bit poorly" he reminded her of their conversation in the car.

He took her hand and they headed to Jen's room.

He smiled through the hole in the glass door spotting Jen sat up in bed, waiting for them.

As soon as he pushed the door open, Rosie ran towards Jen.

"MOMMMYY" her adorable voice cheered Jen up straight away.

She beamed "Hi baby girl!"

Justin kissed Jen's head and lifted Rosie onto the bed.

"How're you feeling?" he asked, watching as Jen smothered Rosie in kisses.

"Sore" she smiled.

"Mommy I have a brother" Jen's heart melted.

"You do honey.. you're his big sister" she hugged her tight. "The doctor came round this morning and said he's doing really well" she smiled to Justin.

"That's great. They might be able to move him up here soon then" he reassured her.

"Hopefully" she smiled softly.

"Mommy I see brother"

"He's sleeping in another room honey. He has to get lots of rest so he can come home and play with you"

Justin smiled. His wife always amazed him. Even when she was going through an awful time herself after abdominal surgery and separation anxiety, she pushed everything aside for the sake of their daughter.

The nurse walked in.

"Hi darling.. aren't you a cutie" she humoured Rosie who was playing with Jen's hair.

Jen and Justin smiled at each other.

"We're going to keep Noah in NICU for a few more hours. He's doing great and if for the next few hours he manages to breath on his own without any issues, we can bring him here later today" the nurse informed them.
