Noah is 6 months old

Jen rolled over and glared at the clock.. 8am. They'd made it through a rare night of only one interruption from Noah. He was growing so quickly into a beautiful little boy. He looked so much like Justin with Jen's blue eyes. Rosie had blossomed into a great big sister and always looked after him.

She stared at the man beside her and smiled contently. She inched closer to him on her pillow and rested her arm across his chest. He stirred slightly at her touch and tilted his head to look at her.

"Happy birthday baby" she whispered, leaning over to kiss him.

He sighed happily and wrapped his arm around her neck bringing her closer.

"Thank you gorgeous"

"I'd like to say I planned the morning of no screaming children but I don't wanna jinx it" she chuckled in the nook of his neck.

"Hmm, any spare minutes with you is a bonus for me" he kissed her head.

"I promise I'll make a bit more time for us once Rosie is settled in pre-school"

"It's okay babe. You've got enough on your plate at the minute. As soon as this next season is over, we'll take a trip"

"Sounds good to me" she sighed sweetly "You know.. I'd really love to give you some birthday loving like in our early days but honestly honey.. I'm exhausted" she giggled softly, leaning up against his chest.

He wrapped his arms around her back and stroked her smooth skin.

"I know.. me too. We're not quite the young, free people we used to be" he teased.

"I'll make it up to you tonight" she leant down and kissed him.

The sound of Rosie's feet pitter-pattering across the hall interrupted them.

"3...2...1" Jen whispered in his ear as she sat up beside him.

"DADDY I got you this" she barged through the door waving a card in the air.

The night before Jen had told Rosie she could surprise her daddy with a card for his birthday and she'd been desperate to give it too him ever since.

"Hi princess" Justin lifted her onto the bed, sitting her in between their legs.

"What do you say to daddy?" Jen quietly reminded her.

"Happy birthday daddy" she bounced excitedly.

"Thank you sweetheart" he kissed her and took the card from her.

Jen smiled at the two of them. They had the best connection she could wish for.

"Oh wow, this is amazing princess. You're such a clever girl writing your name" he smiled at how Jen had drawn the dots to spell the words inside and Rosie had joined them together.

"I did this daddy.. it your birthday cake" she cutely explained the drawings she'd done.

Justin enveloped her in a hug.

Noah's cries could be heard so Jen went to fetch him.

She walked back into the room with Noah clinging to her chest.

"Hi little buddy" Justin motioned to his son as Jen sat back in bed.

"Honey shall we do what we practiced for daddy" Jen asked Rosie and she bounced in return.

"Happy birthday too you..." they sang out sweetly and Justin's heart melted.

He looked from his daughter, to his son in Jen's arms and then to his wife and beamed.
