A week later
Jen had spent most of the time in bed or on the couch. Justin watched her closely and made sure she did as little as possible.
She was still bleeding but it wasn't as heavy and her pain had eased off a little.. mostly helped by the constant cuddles from Rosie.
Their daughter had been golden. It's like she understood her mother needed to rest and stayed by her side, singing, playing or just laying with her as much as she could.
"Court's here babe" Justin shouted into the living room with Court walking behind.
"Hi, how are you?" she sat on the couch opposite Jen and Rosie.
"Feeling better than I was" she answered honestly.
"You look a bit brighter today"
"Auntie Cece I drew dis for mommy" she held up a picture of colourful lines.
"Wow that's so cool" Court humoured her.
Jen smiled, stroking Rosie's hair.
"She's been my saving grace" Jen said.
"Yeah I bet she has" Court smiled.
After a little catch up Jen changed the subject.
"Oh by the way honey, will you help me choose a dress for Saturday?"
"A dress? Why what's happening?" Court questioned.
"The Morning Show premiere.. I've got it down to two but I can-"
"You can't be serious?"
"Why?" Jen looked confused.
"Jen you can't go to a premiere. You need to rest"
Justin walked back into the room.
"Justin why are you letting her go to the premiere?"
"Excuse me.. letting me?!" Jen got stern.
"What?! I'm not.. She's not going" Justin questioned.
"Yes I am"
"Babe you're not. No way! You've got to take it easy. You're not well" he sat next to her on the couch.
"Jen he's right" Court added.
"This isn't something you can just ignore and get on with.. you've got to take it seriously" Justin raised his voice a little.
"I know that Justin!" she shouted "Don't you think I have the constant fear going through my head"
Justin calmed and got closer, resting his hand on her leg.
"I'm sorry. I know that, of course I do.. but Jen you're not going. Aleen cancelled everything for the next few weeks"
"I can't miss this premiere.. it's so important I'm there for this release"
"You can do you're interviews from home. Aleen's got it all covered. Don't worry about that"
"And what will people think.. my next big gig and I can't even show up"
"Who cares.. they'll see how amazing you are. You don't need to be at the premiere for that. You can't be. You have to take it easy for the baby"
"Jen you can't worry about what they think. Your baby is priority, you know that" Court said softly.
"I know" she looked down, a sad expression coming over her.
"Why don't you release a statement.. you don't have to say what's happened but it could explain why you won't be there" Court offered.
Justin looked to Jen awaiting her response.
"I don't want everyone knowing like this" she whispered.
"People will understand. It'll explain your absence and people will respect that more" Court reassured her.
"I think she's right Jen" Jen looked up at Justin, her eyes looked full of sorrow "I know it's not how we planned it but at least this way, your hiding out over the next few months will be understood. Let people say and think what they want. If we put something out there.. we've wrote our own truth" Justin stroked her arm sweetly.
"I guess" she whispered after a while. She sighed deeply.
"I'm sorry babe.. I know it's not what you want but it could work in our favour. Everyone will know you're pregnant and I can keep you safely at home without any hassle from the outside world" he encouraged her.
"Yeah okay.. I think we should do it."
The following day Aleen was round and they were planning on a statement to release.
"The photos are all covered. They've used stills from the show so you don't need to worry about the photoshoot anymore"
"Thank you honey. I'm so sorry for all of this"
"You don't need to apologise, everyone understands and just wants the best for you"
"I know, I just feel like I've let people down" Justin and Aleen could see the disappointment in her face.
"Don't be ridiculous. No one could have predicted this babe. You've got nothing to feel bad about" Justin comforted her.
"You only missed some photos.. it's not that big a deal" Aleen added.
They continued talking a while longer and began putting a statement together.
"Are you sure about this?" Aleen asked.
"Yeah.. Justin's right. We get to have our say of what's going on and avoid any 'oh she couldn't be bothered to turn up' comments"
Justin rubbed her back. He knew she hated to do it this way but it was for the best.
Jen turned the laptop she'd been working on, to face Aleen. She read the statement and agreed.
"Right.. we'll release it tomorrow and deal with anything that follows. Don't worry about a thing Jen. We've got it handled" Aleen confirmed.
"Thank you" she sighed.
"I'm proud of you for how you've handled everything babe. I know you wanted to be there. You'll get your chance and everyone will praise your performance.. I don't doubt it" he kissed her head as they curled up in bed.
"I wish things were different but I know they could be so much worse. All I care about is we've got our baby" she rubbed his hand on her bump.
"We'll be okay" he assured her.
"I guess I'll be there for season 2 premiere" she hinted, perking up a bit.
"Exactly" he replied confidently, kissing her.
The following day the statement was released:
"Whilst this is not the way we had hoped to announce it.. Justin and I are delighted to share that we are expecting a second baby. As I'm sure you are all aware by the photos, I was taken to hospital last week. Unfortunately that means I am unable to attend The Morning Show premiere. Whilst I am gutted I can't be there to celebrate with my fellow cast members and share our incredible new show, I have to take care of my baby. We are all doing fine but precautions have to be taken to provide the best care for us. We hope you understand and respect our privacy during this time."
