Big Changes

One month later

Jen was in the living room, playing with Noah as he giggled away in his rocker.

"You're so cute Mr" Jen cooed over him, making him giggle more.

"How long have you been up?" Justin walked in.

"About an hour. I didn't want to wake you, you've got that meeting this morning"

"Don't remind me... I'm so stressed" he joined her on the couch.

She stroked his leg lovingly "I know honey... but you've worked so hard on this project, the studio are going to love it" she reassured him.

"I hope so" he smiled weakly.

"You deserve this. You've put everything into it. I'm so proud of you"

"Thanks babe" he kissed her sweetly.

"I'm guessing she's still asleep?" Jen asked.

"Yeah.. I''ll go wake her up and get her changed."

"I can't believe our little girl is going to school" Jen said emotionally.

"I know. Where has the time gone?!"

Noah giggled at his parents.

"You're going to stay mommy's baby forever aren't you" she lifted him up in the air and the room filled with his laughter.

"Good luck with that one" Justin joked as he left to wake Rosie.

An hour later they were all stood by the door getting ready to leave.

"You look so grown up honey" Jen straightened out her daughter's pre-school jumper.

"I big girl going to school mommy"

"You are" Jen got teary.

"Don't cry Jen" Justin whispered, reminding her of their earlier conversation that Rosie shouldn't see Jen crying as she'd not want to leave.

"I know... I'm okay" she answered softly.

He rubbed her back as they all headed for the car.

"You're going to have so much fun princess. You're going to make lots of friends with the boys and girls" Justin informed her as they arrived at school.

"I'm so proud of you angel" Jen leant down and kissed her.

"Bye bye Noah" Rosie kissed her brother in her mothers arms.

"Have fun sweetie. We'll see you later" Justin said.

"Bye daddy. Bye mommy" Rosie waved once more and ran off to play with another girl by the sand pit.

"She'll have a great time. We'll call you if we need too" the teacher reassured them both.

Jen watched as her daughter befriended two girls right away. She was so pleased with how she handled this next stage in her life. She started school without a care in the world and happily walked into the classroom.

Justin could see the tears forming in Jen's eyes and rubbed her back.

"She'll be fine. Look at her, she's settled already" he reassured her.

"I can't believe how well she managed that" Jen whispered "She's matured so much into a brave little lady"

"She's got an incredible role model showing her there's nothing to worry about" Justin said proudly as they headed back to the car.

Jen smiled sweetly at his comment.

"And you honey. She's got an amazing father guiding her, making her brave and strong" she stroked his leg sweetly as they got in the car.

Arriving home it was weirdly quiet.

"It's so strange without her running around. It's going to take some getting used too"

"I know. It's going to be weird not having her here in the week" Justin added.

"I'm glad I've got this little guy for company" Jen grinned at her son in her lap.

"Yeah... he's going to love having all the attention" Justin joked "I've gotta go babe" he added, reaching for his laptop and bag.

Jen put Noah in his chair and walked over wrapping her arms around Justin.

"You're going to be amazing honey. If they don't sign on for this project, they've got another thing coming"

He kissed her, thanking her for her encouragement.

"I'll see you later" he said his goodbyes and headed for the studio.

Jen sent him a text so he'd have one last bit of praise before heading into the meeting.

'I love you so much. We're all incredibly proud of the talented man you are. I believe in you, I hope they do too. I've got you babe x'

Later in the day, Jen picked an excited Rosie up from school. She bounced all the way to the car and filled Jen in with everything she'd done that day.

"It sounds like you've enjoyed yourself honey." Jen said after getting into the drivers seat.

"I play with Ellie mommy"

"That's so nice. Is she your new friend?" Jen smiled at her through the mirror.

"Yeah. We play all day"

"That's great. I'm glad you've had a good day darling. You're such a brave girl going to school all by yourself"

"I miss Noah though mommy" she said cutely, reaching across to hold her brothers hand.

Jen's heart melted.

"Aww, he missed you too. You can play with him when we get home and show him all the work you've done"

"I show daddy too"

"Yes honey. Daddy will love to see all your paintings"

"I like school mommy"

Jen smiled proudly "That's good honey. I'm so proud of you."

Justin arrived home later that evening.

Jen was at the table feeding Noah his dinner as Rosie sat opposite.

"Hey, you're home" Jen grinned.

She couldn't tell by his expression how his meeting had gone.

"Hi guys. Hey princess, did you have a good day at school?" he leant down and kissed Rosie's head as she continued to excitedly tell him all about her day.

"That sounds so cool. You can show me your paintings after your dinner" he stroked her head sweetly.

"Her teacher said she was perfect. She mixed with everyone and got stuck into all the activities" Jen informed him.

"Good girl sweetie. I'm glad you enjoyed it" he smiled to his daughter proudly.

"So" Jen asked "how did it go?"

He paused then turned his blank look into a big smile "You're now looking at the director of HBO's next crime series"

"Oh my god!" Jen ran towards him and wrapped her arms around him "I knew you'd do it. Congratulations honey. I'm so happy for you. You deserve this more than anyone" she kissed him proudly.

"Thanks babe. I can't believe we've done it"

"You've done it" she smiled at him "You worked so hard on this script and casting. I can't tell you how proud I am of you" she beamed with pride.

He kissed her, thanking her.

"I love you" she squeezed him tight then went back to feeding Noah.

"Let's get a take out when they're in bed and we can celebrate" she hinted.

He rubbed her shoulders from behind and leant down to kiss her head.

"Sounds perfect. Thanks baby."

Jen watched him walkoff, smiling proudly. She always had faith in his talents and now the world would get to see what an amazing man her husband was.
