Ch. 42 Chess Board

3rd pov: Both finalists were waiting to be called up, both were planning on winning, both had the drive to do it, but only one could win....... In Trips side of the stadium he was giving one last speech to his already tensed up Pokemon, only adding to their anxiety. Meanwhile Ash was simply waiting with his starter Pokemon, both knowing what was at stake......

Ash: "Five years Pika........ we've been doing this for five long, fun, brutal, and adventure filled years. Kinda scared about if this is where it ends, ya know?"

Pikachu: "Pika...."

Ash: "And then there's Dawn and May.. What to do about them?"

Pikachu: "Pika?"

Ash: "I'm not dense Pika, I know what they want me to be for then but.... I don't know if I'm ready for a relationship yet"

Pikachu: "Pika pi?"

Ash: "I mean I really like both of them, for Arceus's sake I was both of their mentors at one point but....... I just don't feel mature enough as a person for a relationship, ya know?"

Pikachu: "Pika."

Ash: "What do you mean 'I'm acting  occ'? Like what does that even mean?"

3rd pov: Pikachu simply shook its head in disbelief, not believing that it's trainer hadn't figured out how to break the fourth wall by now...... Though there waiting would be short lived because conviently, It was time for their battle. After a quick rundown of the rules from the referee, the battle commenced.......

Ash/Trip: "Houndoom, I choose you! /Go Beartic!"

Houndoom: "Doom!"

Beartic: "Bear!"

Trip: "Beartic, use ice beam on the battlefield!"

Beartic: "Bear!"

Ash: What's he doing? "Houndoom, dig your class into the ice and use Flamethrower!"

Houndoom: "Doom!"

Trip: "Beartic, you okay?"

3rd pov: Recieving a loud roar as a reply Trip felt reassured and ready to play his hand....

Trip: "Beartic, use hail and blend in"

Beartic: "Bear!"

3rd pov: A huge hailstorm covered the entire battlefield, making Beartic practically invisible and Houndoom stuck in the ice....

Ash: Smart...... "Houndoom, use fire spin around yourself!" that should stop Beartic from going in for an attack....

Houndoom: "Doom!"

Trip: "Won't work Ash; Beartic, use ice beam!"

Beartic: "Bear!"

Ash: "No!"

3rd pov: Within seconds the hellhound was frozen solid, no longer having to worry about being attacked Beartic quickly put out the nearby fire spin before preparing itself for Trips next order....

Trip: "Power up punch till it faints!"

Beartic: "Bear!"

3rd pov: Ash couldn't do anything but helplessly watch as his wife eyed frozen pup was beaten senseless for what felt like hours, even if it was only a few minutes......

Referee: "Houndoom is unable to battle, will Ash Ketchum please send out his next pokemon"

Ash: I don't have much to counter an ice type so... "Scolipede, I choose you!"

Scolipede: "Pede!"

Trip: Scolipede? "Beartic, use icicle crash!"

Beartic: "Bear!"
