Summary: Y/n and Spencer have broken up due to Spencer's infidelity. A few months later, boy, does he regret it. Yes, reader is female. I just had a female reader in mind when reading this because it's easier, but that only applies to pronouns (characteristics and behavior are gender-neutral)

*2nd person POV*
Six months.
It had been six months since you and Spencer broke up.
Shortly after, you had transferred out of the BAU to another unit, which was just as well. For a while, you had wanted not to speak to him. Not until now, at least.
Your phone ringing interrupted your thoughts. You looked at the name on the screen: Spencer.
You answered the call with a rather dull, "Hello?"
"Hey, are you doing anything right now?"
You looked around the room. "Nope."
"C-can we meet up?"
"Yeah, sure."
"Great! I'll text you the address."
And he hung up. Heaving a sigh at the thought of leaving the comfort of your home, you rolled off the couch and got yourself together.
*Flashback*
A few weeks prior, you were attending a Bureau party, one that you did not care to attend, but as your new team was here, you couldn't really get out of it. Plus, you didn't want to be a coward who avoids parties that her ex might be at.
Even so, you weren't really socializing. Just sitting at one of the tables lining the room sipping bourbon, and you were happy that way. You observed the other guests who busied themselves with small talk, a familiar mop of hair catching your eye.
Oh. He's here.
And just as your thoughts formed those words, he turned around and noticed you.
Mind reader.
He began to cross the room, soon standing at your table with a small smile. "Hey, Y/n. How have you been?"
You shrugged. "Alright. You?"
"Good." He rubbed a hand on the back of his neck. "You look good."
"Thank you." You looked down into your glass.
"Hey, I know it's been a while, but uh, would you want to start talking again?" When you raised an eyebrow, his eyes widened. "N-not like that! Just as friends. I guess I just miss having you around."
You pondered his question for a moment. "Sure. You still have my number?"
He nodded. "May I?" He gestured to the chair opposite you.
"Go right ahead."
*End flashback*
And here you were. Spencer had just called and asked if the two of you could meet up at a small coffee shop you used to go to. You found it a little funny that he wanted it to be the place you had your first date, considering he wanted to just be friends.
But nonetheless, you went.
When you had arrived, you met him waiting at the door. He was biting his lip again, one of his nervous ticks. He immediately saw you, waving as you walked up to him.
"Hey, thanks for meeting me."
"Sure."
All throughout the evening, the two of you engaged in small talk. You avoided the subject of work as both of you spent nearly all of your time there. It wasn't until the end of the evening that Spencer seemed painfully nervous. He cleared his throat when a silence came between you.
"Hey, um, can I ask you something?"
"Yeah?"
"Would you be willing to take me back? I-I know I said I just wanted to be friends, but... God, I miss you."
You observed him. While this wasn't entirely unexpected, you were still walking the fence. "I don't know, Spence. I don't really feel like I can trust you."
"I know, and you have every right. But I promise, if you just give me another chance, I'll make it up to you. I'll give you everything you want and deserve."
"Spencer-"
"I know I don't deserve it, I know I did you wrong. Hell, I don't even deserve to know you. I don't deserve another chance, but I know it would kill me if I didn't try. I love you, Y/n, I still do."
"I-"
"I swear I'll do better. I'll make time for you, I'll call you every night we're apart, you'll have all of me. I'll fix it, I promise you can trust me. And you wanna know how you can trust me? Because I hurt. It hurt every single day I was away from you, it hurt so much knowing the best person in my life walked out of it because of me. It's the biggest regret of my life." His speech finally came to an end, and quiet took its place.
"Oh. Oops."
"Huh?"
You simply observed him for a moment. A smile broke out on your face. The little ray of hope that lit his face when he saw it made you burst into a fit of giggles.
"Let me point out a few things." You laid you elbows on the table at which you sat, hands folded. "One, you're really not selling yourself too well. Two, I couldn't get a word in edgewise so that just goes to show that you were more focused on saying what you wanted to say than listening for my answer. Three, you're right, you did do me wrong. All I wanted was no drama, just a trusting relationship. Tell me, what gave you the impression that I wanted you back? What did I do? Did you profile me?"
"Well, you moved units."
"That was a promotion."
"You weren't really talking to me when I came up to you."
"Perhaps that was because I didn't really want to talk to you. We didn't exactly end on good terms, and I prefer not to be friends with people who did me dirty."
"But you agreed to be friends with me again."
"Because I like messing with people. I don't do it to people that don't deserve it, but you had it coming. I think you were just looking for reasons to believe I missed you because you were scared I didn't. But you know what you didn't notice? Rossi complimenting me on my exemplary work my last few cases after we split. The fact that I actually showed up to a Bureau party."
"I-I just thought you might miss me like I miss you."
"I already did that." You shrugged. "But uh, I'm gonna have to say no."
At my response, Spencer seemed frustrated. Not surprised, frustrated. "But why?"
"Because you knew what you were doing. It's not like it's some mystery that cheating is not okay."
"But I promise-"
"You promise what?" You stood up, hands on the table, leaning over him. "To be loyal and true? I think we both know your promises are no longer valid."
"Y/n, you're drawing attention."
"I don't care." You stood up on the table. "Hey everybody, this man here cheated on me and has the nerve to ask for me back!"
"Sit down!" He hissed under his breath, meeting the eyes of people giving him looks.
"No. I think I'm quite done here." You climbed down from the table, heading for the door.
"Why did you lead me on? By the sound of it, you already knew your answer was no!"
"Because. You know how I love hearing you beg."
He was dumbfounded. "B-but- why?"
You turned around and smiled. "It's just a bit of fun."
A/N: That one was really weird to write. I have this thing when I write where I have to figure out how to justify every character's actions and words, but I didn't know how to do that with this one. I know I wanted to write one where he's begging for her back and she plays along before dropping the hammer on him and says no- and this is what happened. I'll probably come back to edit it later though.
