-I feel like it started as a work thing. You two started getting close because you were around each other so often
-Making fun of everyone else when they're not around
-I feel like the secret about his magic comes out accidentally. You saw something you weren't supposed to see and he just stares at you with wide eyes
-You ask him to explain and you're quiet and listen, which is a huge relief for him
-Since then he always trusts you and shares with you interesting stories he read about or his theories on the current dilemma. It's never to be overbearing, and even then it takes a while because he trusts that it's safe to tell you.
-It's after he understands he can trust you that he starts to develop feelings. The little blush on his face when you look at him
-Literally everyone can tell. He's a master in hiding his magical identity, but he's terrible at hiding crushes.
-Gaius and Arthur definitely tease him for it, with the latter giving him advice that probably doesn't work
-And when you ask why he's acting odd (the advice from Arthur) it kind of all tumbles out, and the rest is history
-He likes popping up from behind and surprising you, he's very charming once he's comfortable
-The huge smile on your face when he shows you a magic trick is everything to him and it's contagious
