A/N: This one is kind of short but whatever. It can be platonic or romantic, up for interpretation. Y/n is a Gryffindor just for the sake of the storyline.
Summary: Your friends bail on your birthday party and Remus and the Marauders cheer you up about it.

"Oh, it's okay."
It felt like I'd said that a million times today. All week I'd been receiving various excuses as to why my friends couldn't come to my birthday party. Detention, homework, studying, preexisting plans, and so on. And this was my response.
And so, even though I had nobody to celebrate with, I went down to the lake -where I had wanted to celebrate. Long, various colored streamers had been tied to the ends of the branches of a tree by magic. Some had fallen out and were flopping around in the wind over the grass.
And I did what anyone would do when they realized they had no true friends and would be spending their birthday alone: I cried.
I mean, it's not that hard to stop by to say hi, is it?
Of course it isn't, they just don't want to spend more time with me than they can help. I mean, fifteen people are too busy? It's the weekend, exams aren't for four months and Quidditch season is over.
And it's not unexpected. You've had this planned two weeks ahead of time.
Is it possible they simply forgot I was having a party? I did get a few 'happy birthday's.
If they were really that interested they would ask how you were celebrating, or ask what you want.
Maybe we're just not that close to do stuff outside of school. Come to think of it, most of them I don't even talk to outside of the class we share.
No, they just don't care. Stop hiding the fact that nobody wants to be your friend. They just don't like you.
"Y/n?"
I jumped a little at the voice, not expecting to hear anything other than my own thoughts.
"Hey Remus."
"Hey." He moved to squat next to me, messing with his gloves. "Why are you crying?"
"I wasn't crying." This was not at all convincing.
"Your eyelashes are still wet and you're all sniffly. Tell me what happened."
"Okay, Sherlock." Even though I had given up, I still found myself wiping my eyes. "I was crying because all of my friends couldn't come celebrate my birthday with me because of some other plan."
Remus winced. "How many?"
"Fifteen." I said bitterly. "You were one of them. Didn't you say you had to do homework?"
"Well, technically I still do." He stood up, offering a hand for me to take.
I looked at his hand, then up at him. "What?"
"Come on. We're going back to the common room, it's too cold out here."
I nodded, taking his hand to help myself stand up before beginning the long trek up the hill towards the castle. Weaving through hallways to get to Gryffindor tower I noticed a few of the people I had invited hanging out in the courtyard or around the corridors, certainly not busy. Remus ushered me on when he noticed I had slowed down a bit.
By the time we had reached the stairway, I was in tears again. (A/N: I really didn't want to write Y/n as someone who cries too much but like-)
Luckily the Fat Lady was busy in another portrait down the hallway, and even luckier Remus had noticed before he tried to get her to come back so we could get through into the common room.
"Hey, hey. Come here." He pulled me into a hug, resting his cheek on the top of my head and one hand in my hair, stroking it. "You don't need to worry about them. If they can't sacrifice even ten minutes to celebrate your birthday then they aren't worth crying over."
"I know. It just sucks right now." I mumbled into his coat. When I had composed myself, I took in a shaky breath and gave him a weak smile. "I'm sorry, you shouldn't have to spend your afternoon babying me."
"No, I want to. You probably find it a little hard to believe, but I care about you."
I hummed in response, noticing the Fat Lady shifting through the picture frames before settling into her own. He did show up at the lake.
"Cornucopia." I said, before the portrait swung open. I stepped inside, glancing around suspiciously when I noticed the lack of incoherent buzz of chatter.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!"
The shouting startled me a bit, but it was quickly replaced by a more curious kind of surprised, staring around the room. Standing in the common room was Sirius, James, and Peter, holding a cake and wearing giant smiles.
I placed a hand over my mouth, smiling through it. Remus was looking down, laughing almost silently.
"You knew this was gonna happen?" I slapped his arm.
"He came up with it." Peter slung an arm around Remus. "He also had to supervise the cooking. It's not like Sirius and James are exactly master chefs."
"I decorated the cake!" Sirius protested. while James simply stuck his tongue out.
I sniffed, taking the cake and putting it on the table. "This really means a lot guys, thanks." I made grabby hands towards them and let them crowd around me and embrace me in a bone-crushing hug.

*Remus' POV*
"Shut up, Padfoot, they're asleep!"
"You shut up!"
"You shut up!"
I rolled my eyes, reaching my hands around and cupping their mouths from behind to shut them both up.
"It shocks me that Prongs is being quieter than the two of you." I muttered, releasing them. Soft snores were coming from the couch, and I glanced over at Y/n, who had stirred a bit before rolling over.
"You know, we've got some serious work to do after eleven people ditched them." James commented.
"Yeah, time to get the old map out." Sirius grinned. "I've got a list of names."
Peter furrowed his brows. "How did you get all the names?"
"Talent, my fine furry friend." Sirius popped his collar proudly. "Talent."
I chuckled to myself, watching the exhausted Y/n sleep.
Crap.
I still have homework.
