"K? Are you alive in there?" I heard my brother's infuriating voice ask from the other side of my bedroom door, waking me up the next morning.
I groaned into my pillow. "No. I've been dead for four months now," I replied.
With my super vamp-hearing, I picked up the sound of him tutting and sighing. In a flash, I was out of bed, swinging my door open to glare at him.
"What do you want?" I snapped.
Tyler frowned. "I hadn't seen you since yesterday, after the cops came. I wanted to make sure you were alright."
I rolled my eyes. "Yep, fine. Can I go back to sleep now?"
He snorted. "Why? It's 2pm?"
I gasped. "What? Are you kidding me?"
Tyler held his hands up in surrender, chuckling. "I promise you."
Slamming the door in his face, I hurried to grab my phone from the nightstand. I stared at the screen, dumbfounded.
Huh. Well, when I said 'the next morning', I guess I really meant 'the next afternoon'.
I had also received a few text messages.
Bonnie: I've had some time to calm down. Would you like to meet up for a drink later today? We can talk.
Although I was kind of mad at her for her reaction and her constant grudge-holding, she was still one of my best friends. Of course I wanted to talk. I missed her.
'Yes, I would love that. Where and when?'
And the other messages?
Kai: Good morning!
Kai: Are you awake?
Kai: Wake up, sleepyhead! Why are you always in bed for so long?
Kai: I thought Hybrids were supposed to have loads of energy?
