Kai's POV

Events at the Boarding House turned sour last night, Stefan making it his mission to terrorise his brother in every way possible, as promised. He'd managed to indulge in a few pretty girls in secret, then, getting bored at the lack of attention, decided to attack guests in front of Damon's eyes.

I knew there was a reason why he'd always been my least favourite Salvatore brother.

Of course, Damon didn't have any of it. With Michelle and I on hand with magic; Damon, Enzo, Caitlyn and Tyler ready to take him down at any moment; and Alaric and Jeremy pulling out weapons in case they needed to shoot him with a vervain dart, Stefan eventually backed down, realising he was outnumbered. Caroline arrived in time to give him one hell of a telling off before he disappeared out the front door without another word.

It didn't take me long to leave after that, finding no further reason to stick around, ready to go home to curl up with Daisy on the sofa, our last night together without Mikaela. I couldn't wait for things to go back to normal, as if she'd never been away.

I spent the next morning getting myself ready to meet Damon back at the Boarding House, preparing for us to go to 1903 to get his mother and her closet full of crazy-pants. And just as I was saying goodbye to Daisy, telling her I'd be home soon and that Matt would look after her until then, there was a sudden knock on my front door.

Confused, I approached it, checking through the peephole to see who the visitor could possibly be. And who I saw made me throw my head back with a groan, opening the door to stare at her expectantly with a raised brow.

"I'm coming with you," my curly-haired sister said, arms folded across her chest to show she wasn't going to take no for an answer.

I snorted. "Yeah, right," I said, shutting the door in her face.

Liv's hand slammed against the wood, keeping it open. "I'm serious, Kai," she pressed on, stubborn as a bull. "You can't be trusted not to mess this up. Face it - you need me."

Rolling my eyes, I turned on my heel, heading back into the lounge to put my coat on. "I don't need anyone, and I sure as hell don't need annoying little sisters who think they know everything."

"You know what's funny?" she said from behind me, stepping past the threshold. "As much as you hate the man, you're exactly like Dad."

Whirling on the spot, I glared at her, pointing a finger in her direction accusingly. "Take that back right now or so help me God I will snip off your tongue so you never get to utter a single word again."

Liv scoffed. "Threaten me all you want, but it's the truth. Your arrogance of becoming Coven Leader has clouded your judgment. You're ignoring the risk you're taking just because you have to get your own way." She narrowed her blue eyes challengingly, raising her chin. "You only care about yourself and your power. Just like him."
