"I love you too," I whispered as we pulled away for air.
Kai smirked down at me before stepping backwards, heading towards the bedroom. "Wait here," he instructed softly.
I raised a brow, intrigued. "Where are you going?"
He flashed a grin. "I'll be right back." Without another word, he disappeared through the bedroom door.
As I stood waiting patiently, 'Bed of Roses' slowly came to an end on Kai's phone, transitioning into the next song. I gasped, recognising the heavenly melody - one I never thought would appear on Kai's playlist.
"Is that... an R&B song... on your phone?" I questioned in humour as he re-entered the main room.
He shrugged, hands shoved in his pockets as he approached me. "I know it's your favourite genre, so I stole a few songs from your playlist when I was using your phone, thought I'd give it a listen. I hope that's okay?"
I bobbed my head, secretly delighted. "That's actually really sweet."
He smiled innocently before reaching for my hand, only inches from me now. Without warning, he pulled out my ring that he'd given me at Christmas from his pocket and slid it onto my finger.
Next came his broken ring which he held in the air for me to look at. With a wink, he said, "I think it's time we fixed mine."
I chuckled. "I agree."
Biting softly into the tip of my finger, I pierced a hole in the skin, letting the blood drip into the cracked opening of the metal. Using his magic, Kai clasped his palms over the ring, whispering a few words in Latin to seal it inside. Once complete he placed it back on his finger, grinning down at the jewellery as he studied it in the candlelight. "Much better." He reached into his pocket again. "I brought something else."
"Oh?" I wondered, his little surprises keeping my interest piqued.
Gesturing for me to twirl, he smirked. "Turn around."
Obeying his command, I spun on the balls of my feet, facing the opposite direction with my back to him. He gently moved my hair to the side before dangling my daisy necklace in front of my eyes, allowing it to rest on my chest as he clasped it together at the nape of my neck.
"It feels so good to be able to wear it again," I sighed, reaching up instinctively to hold it between my thumb and forefinger.
Kai hummed in agreement, softly pressing his lips to the spot just behind my ear. He trailed kisses along my neck and shoulders as his fingertips glided over the skin of my upper thighs, teasing at the hem of my slip dress.
"You look so pretty in this dress," he whispered against the side of my throat flirtatiously, causing a flurry of goosebumps to sprinkle along my back.
"I would look prettier out of it," I replied lowly, hiding a smirk.
