Mikaela's POV

With Kai and Daisy strolling by my side, I opened my front door, breathing a sigh of relief to find the mansion had emptied since Miss Mystic Falls earlier that evening. "Told you everyone would be gone."

"Not everyone..." a voice warned. Stepping out from the lounge came my brother and his witch-bitch girlfriend.

I groaned. "Why are you still here? This is no longer your home - you gave it up when you abandoned me, remember?"

Tyler glared at me as they approached us. "Someone had to stay behind and help clean up the mess you made."

"Good for you," I teased, clapping my hands sarcastically. "Were you expecting a medal?"

Ignoring my quip, Tyler turned to Kai. "They've got Stefan locked up," he informed him.

Kai said nothing in reply, only nodded in understanding. I scoffed, rolling my eyes.

My brother faced me again. "You sure all this drama was worth it?"

The corners of my lips picked up. "I've got Kai and Daisy, I'd call that a win."

"But how long will that be enough for you?"

I heaved a sigh. "Ty, I can't emphasise how boring you are to me." Nodding towards the open front door, I folded my arms across my chest. "Now take your little girlfriend and get the hell out of my house."

He slipped an arm around Liv's waist. "The council will be back on Monday to finish up," he told me simply, before flicking his gaze towards Kai. "Good luck," he said meaningfully.

Without another word, the couple left, shutting the door behind them.

"Look at all this space you have, Daisy!" I gasped as she began to run around the hallway. "Now isn't this much better than being cooped up in that apartment full of disgusting men?"

Kai dropped the bag filled with dog essentials, grabbing a tennis ball from inside before tossing it towards Daisy who caught it in her mouth easily. He'd been suspiciously quiet since leaving the woods, but I didn't care enough to question it. I'd brought him here tonight for one reason, and one reason only: fun.

As Daisy made herself at home, I leaned over the bar that was still standing, grabbing something from the other side. Holding up my prize, I grinned as I pulled out a bottle of raspberry vodka. "Jackpot!" Picking up two shot glasses, I led Kai into the lounge, gesturing for him to sit down on one of the couches.

I sat next to him, placing the bottle and glasses on the table in front of us. "Not scared of me, are you?" I teased, pouring the shots of vodka.

Kai raised a brow, leaning his elbow on the arm of the sofa. "Did you forget who you're talking to?" he replied. "I'm not scared of anything - especially not you."
