I was woken sometime later by soft lips pressing against mine. Fluttering my eyes open, I glanced down at the culprit, smiling when I saw her already looking at me.

"Hi," I murmured, corners of my mouth curled upwards.

"Hi," Mikaela replied quietly.

Carefully, I reached up to stroke her cheek with the backs of my fingers. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm okay. A little sore but I'll live," she assured me. "You?"

Resting my forehead against hers, I released a shaky exhale. "Better now that you're safe."

Mickie sighed longingly. "I'm just mad I didn't get that spa day..."

Chuckling, I pulled back to grin at her, glad that she was at least able to make light of the situation. "How about a bubble bath?" I offered. "That's the best I can do right now."

She nodded, biting down on her lower lip to hide a smile. "Sounds perfect."

After pressing a quick peck to her cheek, I hopped off the bed and headed towards the bathroom. Using the complimentary bath soak the hotel had lovingly placed in the room for us, I began to run a bath, using my hands to lather up the bubbles. Whilst the water poured from the faucet, I hurried back to the bed to help Mikaela get to her feet.

"I'm fine, Kai, honestly," she said, dismissing me with her hands as I slipped an arm around her waist.

"Shh," I whispered, shutting down her protests. "Just let me help you."

Realising it was pointless to fight me on it, she gave in, allowing me to guide her into the bathroom. I shut the door behind us as she began to unclip her bra. She paused before slipping the straps down her shoulders, gaze flicking nervously in my direction. "Look away."

I snorted, ignoring her request and reaching out to gently take the bra away from her body. "You should know by now to never be self-conscious with me."

Mickie's cheeks turned rosy. "Just instinct, I guess. I don't want you to see me as anything other than perfect."

Smiling down at her, I wrapped my arms around the small of her back, pulling her closer to me. "And that's exactly how I'll always see you."

Nodding, she gulped before stepping out of her underwear. I aided her in stepping into the tub then shut off the water. As she sat down, she glanced up at me. "Aren't you joining me?"

Not needing to be asked twice, I didn't hesitate in stripping out of my clothes and getting into the bathtub behind her. Thankfully, it was big enough to fit us both in easily, my legs on either side of her hips.
