"Oh my God, yes," she sighed as my fingers tangled in her soft curls, our hips pressed tightly together as we stood in the centre of the bedroom.
Our mouths moved in synchronisation, bodies melding into one as they always did. Goosebumps splashed across her skin as I ran my hands up her thighs. I moved my lips slowly down to her neck, kissing the spot I knew drove her crazy. To prove my point, she let out a moan as her fingernails bit into my shoulder blades.
"Kai," she breathed in bliss, only inches from my ear. The sound of her saying my name as I overwhelmed her senses to only recognise my touch, my scent, my sound, my taste... it made my heart swell so big I worried it may burst.
Pulling back, I looked down at her angelic features, lids half-closed in pleasure. She blinked up at me, flashing a small smile just for me. My breath hitched in my throat. The words were rolling off my tongue and there was nothing I could do to stop them.
"Mikaela, I... uh..." I gulped, unsure how to go about it.
"Yes?" she whispered, face full of hope.
I inhaled deeply, building my strength. "I lo-"
"Please don't tell me you're about to say you love me?"
Frozen on the spot, I stared down at her, eyes wide. Her brow was raised in confusion, humour sparkling in her hazel eyes. I wasn't sure what reaction I'd been expecting, but it definitely wasn't this.
To add insult to injury, she began to laugh. "Kai, I don't feel that way about you - and I never will."
Her words were like a knife in my chest, an unfamiliar burn licking the walls of my throat as I struggled to get a hold on the pain I was experiencing. "But, I thought-"
"What? That I loved you back?" She laughed harshly again, taking a step away from me, my arms dropping to my sides in defeat. "You know it's always going to be Klaus."
I shook my head, unable to comprehend how she could be so cruel, how someone I thought would never be capable of hurting me in this way was now spitting out all these awful things without a hint of remorse. "You broke the sire-bond?" I questioned desperately. This didn't make sense.
"It doesn't change how I feel about him," she said with a shrug. "I've got to go. This is too weird..." She brushed past me, ready to leave me all alone with my broken heart.
Instinctively, I spun around. "Mikaela, wait!" I cried, reaching out to grab her wrist, clutching nothing but air.
