Kai's POV
Damon: Fine. I'll do it.
The grin hadn't disappeared from my lips ever since I'd received the text ten minutes ago. Damon was willing to get his mom out of the 1903 Prison World so she could flip Stefan's switch back on, meaning it wouldn't be long before Mikaela was in my arms again, her loveable - but broken - self.
I didn't care how long it took before she was able to live with herself when everything she's done hits her all at once. As long as she was mine, I could handle the rest. I'd help her through it, just as she had done for me.
After leaving the Boarding House last night, I'd swiftly teleported to Portland - I'd been practising my distance for weeks now, getting further and further as time went on - to scour through the Gemini artefacts locker, hidden away from prying human eyes. It had taken an hour or two, but I eventually found exactly what I'd been looking for.
The 1903 Ascendant.
It was funny. For someone who once went out of his way to make sure his coven stayed under the radar, my father was much less uptight where prison world ascendants were concerned. Liv had managed to get her hands on the 1994 ascendant easily to send Mickie away. And now, like magic, the 1903 ascendant was sitting in my pocket, just waiting to be used.
I'd replied to Damon instantly after receiving his co-operation: 'Great! I always knew you were the smart one. I've got the ascendant, now we just need to convince Bonnie.'
That was going to be the tough part. I already knew where Bonnie's loyalty would lie when it came to letting psychopaths out of prison worlds - I'd felt it first-hand. I was going to have to really drive home just how important this was, and maybe use a little manipulation - just as I had for Damon - if that's what it took.
I was doing this one way or another, so they were either with me or against me. And those against me? Well, let's just say I wouldn't hesitate in removing the obstacles.
But I was trying to take the path of righteousness, to prove I could play nice. I didn't want to ruin what had grown into good friendships - I just prayed that the others would listen to reason and help me out so we could get our loved ones back. The longer I went without Mikaela's love, the harder it was becoming to stay away from the darkness that called to me, that longed for me to return.
And if I didn't get my soulmate back soon? The darkness would surely get its wish.
Pulling up a contact name in particular, I quickly typed out a new message: 'Hey Bon Bon! I've got some important news, how would you feel about a catch-up?'
