Five Years later
Salineas
Palace/ Mermista's officeMermista sighs with exhaustion as she rubs the corners of her eyes. The countless late nights catching up to her. She reaches out for a clay crafted coffee mug. The mug misshapen and its design of a mermaid childish in nature. She groans as she realizes she's run out of coffee. She glances towards the door as she hears the faint steps of someone coming to her office.
A moment later the door swings open revealing a rather short girl with dull blue hair, brown eyes, and tan skin similar to Seahawks, with a smaller trident in hand.
"I Queen of Salieeenas com-co- order you to um ah...kneel! Yes you are to kneel!" The child shouts bursting into the room with a smug expression.
A small smile grows on her tired face before she out stretches her hand, with a swirl of deep blue water her trident manifest in her hand.
"Queen? It seems that you've forgotten that I still wear the crown. Salineas isn't big enough for two Queens Miranda." Mermista says walking to the front of her desk.
"There's no choice then! To the death!" Miranda shouts
Miranda squints her eyes focusing all her concentration to the tip of her trident. Slowly a ball of water forms as the deep blue gem the center of her trident glows. Swirling it launches slowly towards Mermista.
Mermista counters using her own trident to send to form a small sickly green and blue water orb towards her daughter. The two attacks threaten to clash but as they meet Mermista cancels her attack. Miranda's attack hits Mermista in the chest causing Mermista to fall to her knees.
"Ah! Ooh! I've been beaten please have mercy!" Mermista cries out.
"It worked! *cough* I mean- ha! Surrender your throne or drown!" Miranda shouts pointing her tiny trident.
"I give! You are truly the strongest Queen." Mermista says kneeling while handing over her crown. The crown itself is a thin band that wraps around the head that unites together with a small ruby placed on the forehead.
"Lies! That's not your crown!" Miranda shouts while taking the crown and placing it on her head. Which obviously doesn't fit causing it to slant to one side. Of course she doesn't acknowledge the problem as she continues her pose of pointing her trident at Mermista.
"Uh sorry that's the only crown i got." Mermista says fixing the crown on Miranda's head by tapping the gem causing it adjust to Miranda's size.
"Whoa! That's cool- wait no stay on task. I saw you wearing another crown but it floating above your head! Alpha showed me and Flora a video of you wearing a cool crown!" Miranda says
"Oh that one, well that's a very special crown. Uh sorry sweetie but I can't give you that one." Mermista says
"Why not?" Miranda says
"Ugh how do I say this, its evil and not suited for you sweetie." Mermista says trying to let her down gently.
"She's right. Far to innocent and weak to wield me." Jorm says his voice distorted. Mermista grits her teeth in pain as she feels her left eye change to a pure yellow.
"Enough." Mermista growls demanifesting her trident.
"whoa! What was that!" Miranda shouts
"Its something you don't need to know about just yet." Alpha says entering the room.
"Aw why not?" Miranda says bummed out.
"Kids these days really are fearless huh. Heu miranda Flora and Aella are trying out basic training. You should go meet them before they beat you." Alpha says humming
"What!? No way their beating me!" Miranda says taking off.
"It seems like that serpent is getting harder to control." Alpha says while scanning Mermista's paper work on her desk.
"No its fine all he can do is talk when he isn't needed." Mermista says with a emphasis on the needed.
"Hm alright, do you have the report I asked for?" Alpha says
"Ah yes it's right here." Mermista says taking a slip of paper from one her drawers.
"Thank you, by the way how are feeling? I know managing Etheria's finances can be tiring to say the least." Alpha says
"It can be but ever since I taught the others how to manage their own territories it's been easier on me. Plus miranda keeps me company too." Mermista says softly touching her clay mug.
"True the efficiency of Etheria has increased. Although are biggest problems still remain." Alpha says
"Development of the lower and outer rings?" Mermista says
"Yes, the lower ring is at the lowest requirement but our colonies in the outer rim are well a lawless zone." Alpha says with a faked sigh.
"Uggghh Catra wants to commission more bots for security doesn't she." Mermista says in frustration.
"Yes, but if it's any consultation the new citizen ship system has been fully implemented as of now. Volunteers for military service should be on the rise." Alpha says trying to sooth her anger.
"Finally! All these bots are costing a fortune! What about our defense policy? Is it done?" Mermista asks
"Yes, the fortifications of the core and upper ring are complete. The stabilizing of the Lowe ring is on going." Alpha says
"So half of Etherian controlled space is secure good. So did you want something from me? The report wasn't that urgent was it?" Mermista says
"No, I came to tell you that you are invited to a celebration that is happening in two days." Alpha says
"Huh? What are we celebrating?" Mermista says
"Absolutely nothing, Catra said and I quote 'everyone's been working so hard lately! We need a party to let some stress out.' She tried to make it sound like she cared but I think she just wants to slack off." Alpha says
"A day off!? What time? Where is it? And what's the dress code."Mermista says with sparkles in her eyes.
"It'll be held at brightmoon in the evening around eight o'clock, dress code is fancy and no kids allowed." Alpha says
"We'll be there!" Mermista says excitedly
"Good, see you there." Alpha says
