Prologue to War- Part One

One day has passed since the port incident with Mermista. Catra now gathers all 15 council members in the war room. Each throne representing an aspect of their occupation. A trident for Mermista, a tornado for Spinnerella and a blue magic circle for Castaspella and so on. They gather around a circular table that displays a holographic map of Etherian territory.

"With the exception of Huntra, Seahawk, and Netossa. All memebers of the high council are present." Alpha says

As Alpha's speaks an air tension fills the room with Spinnerella and Mermista flinching at the names being called.

"I'm not going sugar code this, we are at war and they will be at our door step any day now. We've already lost contact with two our agents, luckily they managed to send us a warning before connection was lost." Catra says her voice filling the room. Catra notices Mermista tighten her grip on her arm rest as she says these words but continues.

"The warning short and broken but they were able to send us at least an estimated number of the enemy invasion force. Alpha." Catra says giving Alpha the go ahead.

"The Etherian Empire has an estimated military strength of 300,000 starships. That is not accounting for the number of bots and soliders. The enemy invasion force is estimated to be around 600,000. At first were at a clear disadvantage. If we add in our allies which have already been called upon and are on standby in Etheiran space it will be our total to 450,000." Alpha says causing the hologram to display each sides number of ships.

"So what's the plan? If were outnumbered run?" Frosta asks

"No. Entrapta please enlighten eveyone of you're discovery." Alpha says.

Entrapta's eyes brighten as her lips curl into a smile.

"Finally my turn! As you know our starships travel the vastness of space via portal technology. Which progressed our technology by leaps and bounds! Teleportation gates, Nexus Gates which allow almost instantaneous travel to another Gates position. Not mention the hundreds of other scientific discoveries made from said-" Entrapta shouts rambling on before Catra walks over and hits over the head.

"Ahem. Sorry. The point is we are the only nation capable of using it. For instance when traveling to another world, all Etherian starships above frigate class are equipped with Nexus cores. Which allow for a breach on space to temporarily open and for us to go through." Entrapta says showing a holographic image of a nexus core.

A small ball of energy is shown being restrained by several rings overlapping each other while rotating in different directions. The core itself could be as big as an apple. But the machinery around it looks as big as house.

"Um could I have spark notes version?" Mermista says scratching her head.

Entrapta looks at mostly everyone's face of confusion and hangs her head with a sigh. She jumps onto the table to get in view of everyone.

"See this paper if I draw two points on each side of the paper and make a line from each point. That's how hyper drive works it still takes time but they will get their faster than not using it. Now if we fold this paper you'll see the two points now line up. What our portals do is poke a temporary hole in space and time so that we may cross through. What would take weeks for hyper drive we may do in seconds. It gives us a clear advantage in travel but also a fatal flaw. We need exact coordinates to travel, if not we may just portal into a planet or even become lost." Entrapta says throwing the paper behind her as she makes her way to her seat.

"Why does this matter? Well to put it simply our territory is simply to big. Currently our forces spread across the entire empire. A focused assult could easily break our defenses. So I've recalled all fleets with special exceptions for a few. So I'll sprinkle small garrison units across our border which will signal us. After which the main fleet will portal in and fight off the enemy." Catra says
