Orbital Drop

Merry and her team hesitantly step into 7ft long and 8ft wide pods that dangle underneath the carrier ship.

"Anyone else feel like their stepping into their coffins?" Merry says playfully as the pods close.

"According to old logs many shock troopers reported saying that these were similar to coffins in regards to that in the beta tests the pods penetrated the earth to far and the solider was buried." Ari says

"Really didn't need to know that right now." Ash says fears creeping into her voice

"I'm sure these were designed for the maximum survivability." Siren says

"Look Sarge the rookies are pissing themselves." A Etherian corporal says getting into his pod.

"I thought the Etherian army used bots not actual soldiers." Kal says

"Is this your first time to frontlines?" Another soldiers says

"Yes." Merry says

"Listen up rookies I'll say this once, the bots are the main force but the use of live soldiers are necessary at times. Like this planet for example, you'll see races from every planet under Etherian control." A beast-kin lion says

"I didn't know other planets were so patriotic to volunteer." Siren says

"There not.  50% of the soldiers here are criminals who have been implanted with chips that will explode if the criminal doesn't follow orders. The other 50% sign up so they can have higher citizenship status." He says.

"I guess were lucky Empress Catra only made it Volunteer only to join the military." Another says

"Lucky? I still have 7 life sentences to work off." Another shouts.

"Alright shut it. We drop in one minute so pay attention, we will be dropping straight into hell so even if you do die you better stand back up and keep fighting. Follow the waypoint on your Hud, 5...4...3...2...1.." the Sargent says as the pods are launched.

The pods rock and creak as they enter low orbit and when a sudden yank the pods deploy metallic plates that slow the fall.

As merry breaks through the clouds her eyes widen as her eyes find a barren sacred wasteland of a battlefield. A combination of laser, explosions, and magic fill the air. She feels blaster bolts hit her pod. She holds her breath as she fears her pod might tear apart. She peeks through the pod window to see multiple pods exploding leaving behind a crimson mist before disappearing. Suddenly the ground rockets towards her and a crash! Her eyes go blurry before she collects the strength to pull a lever that ejects the hatch door.

In an instant her ears are flooded with crackles lighting, the whining of laser fire, the hum and static of cannons charging, and the screams of hundreds of voices mixed together. She clears her vision to see hundreds of Etherian Soliders firing over trenches, the 16ft tall bipedal giants firing off a sickly green energy that hits a soldier and burns through his armor. She notices the enemy clad in red metallic carapace like armor. There weapons lobbing giant orbs of sickly green energy that erupt into a spray.

Merry snaps out of her gaze as she notices Ash sprinting towards her. They both sprint towards each feeling the zipping of lasers and smell of burning and boiling flesh and skin. Just as the two meet a lob of green energy lands between them. Merry grits her teeth and tackles Ash but before deploying her energy shield from her gauntlets. They both tumble into a nearby crater the energy shield blinking before dispersing.

"We are off from the landing zone! Were right in the middle of the battle, follow me!" Merry says checking outside the crater before sprinting forward.
