"Then there was this time when we got so hungry we raided Kyle's locker...ah he starved for days after that." Catra says with a face full of nostalgia.
"It sounds like you always had the best time with Adora." Flora says
"Yes...we did." Catra says looking at the Adora statue in the center of the court yard.
"Empr- Aunt Catra I've read through all of Etheria's Histroy and Adora isn't named at all after horde primes defeat. At least not until her death. What happened?" Odessa says while letting Flora braid her hair.
"Two years after horde primes defeat Adora, bow, and glimmer left Ethetia to see the galaxy." Catra says with traces of bitterness
"They left you?" Aella says
"No. I chose to stay behind to serve my penance." Catra says
"What does that mean?" Miranda says trying to sound out the word.
"It means she committed a crime and was in the process of redeeming herself. " Odessa says
"So she was trying to say sorry?" Flora says
"Yeah. I was trying to say sorry to Etheria and her people." Catra says
"What did you do?" Flora says shocked
"Didn't pay any attention in class? Aunt Catra wasn't always on the good side." Aella says
"That's correct, I hurt alot of people and I needed to make up for it." Catra says
"Did you?" Miranda says
"Yes. I think so...hope so." Catra says
The kids watch as for the first time since they've known Catra that she seemed smaller. Her once confident and intimidating aura replaced with shame and regret. Her voice was quieter than before.
"I can I tell you kids a secret?" Catra says
"About what?" Flora says
"I'm scared." Catra says her voice quivering ever so slightly.
"What? But you're so strong!" Aella says
"What are you so scared of?" Odessa says
"I'm scared of myself...the price i paid for power wasn't just corruption for my arm. My mind...is being corrupted as well. It's like there's two of me and the gap between them is thinning everytime I use dark magic." Catra says in a frantic voice.
Catra grabs her face using her corrupted hand, tears brimming her eyes.
"Can't you just not use it?" Odessa says simply
"I always try not too but in the end I need it to win. I'm not like you're parents with limitless power coming from their runestone's. I need to recharge but dark magic that's limitless but at a cost. Angella is keeping it from spreading but I fear the next big war will cost me something...its like having two parts of myself fighting each other. And the bad side is winning." Catra says looking at both her arms, one mechanical and other twisted and corrupted.
"Ah sorry didn't mean to drop this all on you. I was just letting some thoughts out. Think nothing of it." Catra says realizing she's talking to literal children.
Miranda feeling the mood switch panicked and asked the first thing that came to mind.
"Why were in you're room anyway? Isn't there a party you should be in?" Miranda says panicking
"Ah..well...I was eating!" Catra says caught off guard by her question.
"Eating what?" Flora asks innocently
