Chapter 16

The gymnasium echos with the sound shouts and screams.

Catra walks into the gym to see Scorpia and Lionett training force captains.

"You call that push ups!? I've seen swift wind put more effort into it!" Lionett shouts.

She growls, the soldiers panicking start to pick up the pace.

"Uh you call that a run? Uh don't worry it's not a race in fact I'll give you participation hug!" Scopria says

As she says this all the runners begin to go from jogging to sprinting.

"Tell them that Scorpia and they'll die from exhaustion." Catra says chuckling

"Catra!" Scorpia says running towards Catra with her arms open.

Instantly the feeling of danger washes over her. She tries to evade but it's too late, Scorpia scoops up Catra in a hug. Feeling the life drain out of her as she gasps for air Catra sees in the corner of her eye the sympathetic looks in her men's eyes.

"Scorpia...your...killing me.." Catra chokes out.

"Oh yeah sorry forgot personal space." Scopria says scratching her head.

"Commander on Deck!" Lionett shouts.

As she does all the soldier including herself salute Catra.

"Thank you for your efforts this evening. Take break while talk to my officers." Catra says her voice hardened and seeming to echo throughout the room.

As they all begin to leave the room Catra looks at them both.

"When did you two get so close? Last thing I heard you two didn't like each other." Catra says sitting on a bench crossing her legs.

"Oh yeah bitter enemies so I thought! But when we started talking to each other, it became more like she could be my friend." Scorpia says happily.

"Oh God what could you two possibly have in common." Catra says nervously

"You, our loyalty to you commander is what made us friends." Lionett says with a smile.

"Oh no, looks you two I'm no role model or anything really." Catra says her face flustered for moment before falling sullen.

"Commander..I know I wasn't there during past with the horde. I know I can never know your pain. But that doesn't matter to me. Because the Catra I know is heroic, strong, selfless, and undefeated. I just want to say your my whatever you may think I'll always be on your side." Lionett says kneeling.

"Ah!? An oath of enteral loyalty! No fair it sounded so cool to. Should I do one too?" Scorpia shouts.

"Thank you Lionett, really it means alot. And no Scorpia please don't. If I receive another pledge like that I think I'll die of embarrassment." Catra says taking a breath.

"Oh yeah what did you want to talk to us about?" Scorpia says

"Oh yeah, Lionett how many officers would you say are combat ready. Also Scorpia where is double trouble assigned to." Catra says her tone turning serious.

"Roughly 100 people. Theres more cadets training but they won't be combat ready by the time the war starts." Lionett reports.

"Double trouble was stationed in the lower barracks to train spies per in the art of acting so he says. But if I'm being honest I don't remember giving him permission to do that." Scorpia says grabbing her and focusing.

" any of them not combat ready by the time it starts are to be placed as reserve units. Wasting manpower is pointless. Also Scorpia don't worry about I should have known that bastard wouldn't take just any post. I'll visit later. Also Scorpia you are to go with Entrapta to beast Island later today."  Catra says

"Yes commander!" Lionett shouts

"Huh beast island!? Did I do something wrong!?" Scorpia shouts

"No you didn't do anything wrong, your simply needed. I've got to get going now but report to Entrapta and she'll tell you the details." Catra says walking away.

"Oi scorpia you shouldn't question orders, just say understood." Lionett says hitting Scorpias shoulder.

"Perfuma always tells me to ask for clarification. Trust me last time I had a lot of paper work to do when I messed up." Scorpia says shivering remembering the mountains of paper work.

"Oh yeah your married to Perfuma right." Lionett says

"Marraged!? Oh... no I mean that would be amazing but were just dating..." scorpia says flustered and punching Lionett in the shoulder.

"Arg my bad but Scorpia you really should control your strength." Lionett says rubbing her shoulder.

"If I hadn't strengthened my arm she would have crushed my arm." Lionett thinks to herself looking how she was pushed back a couple feet.

"Oh sorry! Actually lately I've noticed ive gotten stronger, like this morning I tried to open my door but broke it instead! I'll have to talk to Entrapta she's a genius. She'll definitely know what's wrong with me. Oh no maybe I'm turning into a monster!" Scorpia says holding her face.

"God how have you lived this long. Your of the Scorpion sub race. When your race gets older they grow stronger. Just like how me and Catras race get quicker reflexes. It's called our Race trait, every race gets one. But most are unable to unlock it." Lionett says face palming.

"Huh I didn't know that! Wait you can transform?" Scorpia says

"Yeah I can channel my magical energy to transform into a beast state. For example the training were giving to our officers helps unlock that racial trait. Our current officers can temporarily unlock each their own Racial traits." Lionett says

"So my racial trait is getting stronger with age?" She Questions.

"No its probably just something you got along the way. I didn't study race biology specifically but if I had to guess maybe you'll get better poison?" Lionett says thinking.

"Oh well, I don't really mind as long as I can help Catra. Speaking of that I should probably go do what she said." Scopria says bidding Lionett farewell.

Catra walks into the lower barracks to see a dozen soldiers but instead training she sees them preforming a play. Rubbing her nose she walks over to double trouble.

"Double trouble! What are doing?" Catra says

"Oh look it's my kitten, it's been awhile i thought you had forgotten little old me." They say brush their tail against Catra's face.

"I thought I told you not to start any problems. But am I hearing about you starting a whole class without permission." Catra says looking at dozen students.

"Listen kitten I'm not starting trouble if anything I'm helping you! Plus their was such potential in them I couldn't help but show them their true potential." Double trouble extending their hands posing dramatically.

"I'm not mad or anything it's just if you want to do stuff like this, at least report it to me." Catra says moving their tail away from her.

"Of course darling next time. Okay everyone take five." They say.

"So hear your training them in spy craft and yet all I see is them performing a play." Catra says leaning against a wall.

"A play? How childish this is theater! I'm polishing their acting skills!" Double trouble shouts.

"Anyway when the war starts in three months your going to be with me on the Rising Dawn." Catra says handing her a data pad.

"Huh? Darling you know I'm not a fighter." They say confused.

"This data pad has all the information on your mission. I've got to go but we can more later." Catra says using her tail to brush their face as she leaves.
