Their class with Ms. Mallari just finished.
Hayy, finally. Khae touched her nape. She feels like she's got a stiff neck.
Aiah could not help but chuckle when she saw what Khae did. "That's what you get for not looking at me, Mikhaela Lim." She's fully aware that Khae didn't turn her head at all. Literally, she was just looking at Ms. Mallari for one hour.
"Hey, you're Khae, right? Aiah was looking at Khae.
"Yeah." Khae said shortly. Khae didn't expect Aiah would talk to her.
"We met yesterday." Aiah smiled showing her dimples.
"Uhm, yeah." Khae feels uncomfortable. And not to mention, she feels like she will faint at any moment. "Maaa, those dimples! Ahhhh!
"Uhm—"
Khae was just looking at Aiah. She wants to say something but words just don't come out. "Fudge. This is embarrassing. What's wrong with you, Khae?!"
"Uhm, what? Aiah asked. She could feel that Khae is not comfortable talking with her.
"I'm wondering if you wou–" Khae finally found her tongue but got interrupted when her phone rang. Yves is calling.
"Excuse me" said Khae and received the call. "Yup?"
"Hey, 'you free?" I am with Gwen right now." We're classmates in three subjects this sem. Coffee? Both Gwen and Yves are taking up Education. Khae's face lit up. This is her chance to ask Aiah out without feeling awkward.
"Actually, I'm with her cousin now." She's my classmate in one subject." Khae turned to Aiah. She's looking at her with confusion in her eyes.
"Ask her to come with you." Khae heard Gwen's voice.
"Do you wanna grab a bite?" Khae asked Aiah after talking to Yves.
"Who was that?" asked Aiah but she already had an idea who it was.
"Yves and Gwen." They told me to ask you—" Khae paused. That doesn't sound right.
Aiah raised her eyebrow. So, you're asking me out just because my cousin and your friend told you to?
"I mean—I'm wondering if you would like to go out with me for coffee? That is, if you are free." said Khae. She was able to say it without stammering. Yay! I am so proud of myself!
Aiah smiled. That's better, Ms. Lim.
"Sure. My next class is at 2 o'clock."
"Great! Shall we?" For the first time, Khae smiled at Aiah.
The two can't help but notice how people are lowkey staring at them. They are on their way to the parking lot. Everyone seems to be admiring Khae and Aiah. Why, they look good together!
Why don't I feel annoyed now that people are staring at me like I usually do? Khae realized when they were walking. She gave Aiah a quick glance. She looked so confident. She seemed used to people giving her the attention. Khae notices more and more people are looking their way. Well, can I blame these people? I'm with the most beautiful girl in the campus! She smiled at the thought. Khae couldn't help but feel proud. Huh?? Wait—what did I just say? Most beautiful girl? Feeling proud? Let me just remind you Mikhaela, you just met and she's not your girlfriend. Khae blushed. She felt embarrassed by her own thoughts.
While on their way to meet Yves and Gwen...
"Hey, I am sorry for yesterday." Khae said while driving. She looked at Aiah who's seated beside her.
"Sorry for what? Oh, that." Aiah said, confused at first. Then she realized what was Khae referring to. "It's okay. It was my fault." Aiah smiled.
"Hmm, but I should have apologized nicely." Sorry, again." Khae said feeling guilty. "I didn't even ask if you were hurt." Khae made a sad face and looked at Aiah.
"It's fine, really. Don't worry about it." Aiah reassured Khae.
"I was rude." Khae is still making that face.
Aiah looks at Khae. She can't help but to smile. She finds her cute with that look.
"Hey, ' told you. It's fine." Aiah said.
"'Mkay, thanks. I'd really feel better if you'd let me treat you today. Anything you want. All on me. And don't say no, because I insist." Khae really wants to make up for what she did yesterday.
"Well, Miss Lim. You gave me no choice." Aiah shrugged her shoulders.
"So, it's a yes, yes?" Khae asking the obvious.
"Now, you sound just like him." Aiah chuckles.
"Who?" Khae looks confused.
"That guy from yesterday..." Aiah said grinning.
"What? RJ? No!" Khae protests.
"Haha! 'just kidding." Aiah smiled.
"Am I that annoying?" Khae's eyes narrowed as she looked at Aiah.
"Nope." She answered.
"Then why would you say that?" Khae is making face.
"Nothing. I just want to tease you." Aiah answered grinning.
"Why, though?" Khae asked curiously.
"'Coz you look cute when you make that face." Aiah said in a casual tone.
They exchanged few more words before they have arrived at their destination. Both noticed how fast they became comfortable with each other in such a short period of time. None of them was complaining, though.
Yves and Gwen were happy seeing the two of them coming together. For Yves, it was just refreshing to see Khae with somebody new. And for Gwen, she's happy her cousin is meeting new people. They spent some time at the café just talking about anything. They learned so much about each other.
