Chapter 33

Aiah saw her friends together with Khae. She feels relieved seeing her girlfriend. Now she could fully concentrate and give her best tonight.

This is Khae's  first time to watch Aiah in a competition. And also, her first time to actually watch a pageant. She didn't watch before when it was Lindtsey who was competing. It's not that she's not supportive, it's not just her thing.

So far, everything is going well. Aiah's doing a great job. In fact, she's slaying it. The shorts and tops they wore were pretty decent. Khae had no comments on that.  However, she noticed something  when it was time for the girls to be serenaded.

Is it just me or that guy is giving Aiah special treatment?  Dude, there's twenty of them, why are your eyes glued to Aiah?

"Uh-oh, why is he acting like there's only one contestant?" Khae heard someone say from the crowd.

See? I'm not wrong after all.

Achilles could not help but stare at Aiah while he's singing. He was asked to sing for the girls.
Aiah caught his attention yesterday during the rehearsal. He finds her so pretty. He instantly had a crush on her.

To make it not so obvious, Achilles tried to walk around and sing for other girls, too. Then, he went back to Aiah to hold her hand... And right after he finished singing, he kissed it.

iah was surprised by what he did. That wasn't necessary. That was not even in their practice yesterday.

Lindtsey looked at Khae.

"Hey, don't mind that." Lindtsey said.

"That wasn't rehearsed. Why would he do that?" Nica said to herself. She saw what Achilles did. She looked at her friends' direction. Her eyes widened when she saw Khae with them.  Uh-oh!

There goes that feeling again! I hate it! Khae is telling herself to not be affected. She heard what Lindtsey said. Among all her friends, Khae thinks Lindtsey connects with her the most. She glanced at her and forced a smile.

Khae managed to deal with her feelings. She still feels a bit jealous but she's telling herself  that the show is almost finished and later she'll get to talk to Aiah. She misses her so much. It's been two days since they last talked.

And now the moment everyone has been waiting for... the announcement of winner!

The girls screamed when they announced Aiah's name as Ms. Campus. Khae was the proudest.

Everyone was taking pictures of Aiah on the stage.
Khae saw the guy who sang earlier walked towards Aiah. He was telling something that Aiah probably could not hear because it was too loud right now. The music and the people talking make it difficult for everyone to hear one another.

"Congratulations, Aiah!" Achilles said.

"Thank you." Aiah could barely hear him.

"By the way, my name is Achilles."

"I'm sorry?" Aiah did not hear what he said.
