The next day...
"I forgot to ask you yesterday..."
"Hmm?"
"My dad wants to meet you, would you like to join us for dinner?"
"Y-your... what?"
"My dad wants to meet you." Khae smiled.
"We're inviting you for a dinner. On Saturday."
"H-he knows about me?" Aiah couldn't believe what she just heard.
"Yup."
"How?"
"I told him I've a girlfriend, her name is Aiah, whom I love... so much!" Khae said smiling at her.
"Are you serious?!"
"I'm Serious. That's my other nickname." Khae grinned.
"Khae, I'm not playing, are you serious?"
"Of course. Why would I joke about it?"
"Did you really tell him about me?" Aiah asked again.
Khae sighed.
"Yes, I did. 'You remember when I came to school with my eyes all swollen and puffy? 'Told you I had a serious convo with my dad. That was the time I told him about you." Khae told Aiah what happened that night.
Aiah was speechless when she heard Khae's story.
Aiah does not know how to react. She does not know what to say. She feels happy but sad at the same time. She feels proud of Khae for being brave and yet she feels the opposite for herself.
"Hey... 'You alright?" Khae asked. Aiah looked flustered.
Aiah glanced at Khae. How will I tell her? How am I gonna tell her that I don't have the courage to let my parents know yet? I can't even tell it to Tita Ivy...
"Baby" Khae reached for Aiah's hand. "If you're not ready to meet my dad, it's okay. We'll set another date." Khae smiled at Aiah.
"Hmm... I'd love to meet your dad but..."
Khae is looking at her, waiting for what she's going to say... Tell her, Aiah! She gulped.
"Uhm, baby, I-I haven't—" Aiah does not know how to tell Khae that she's scared.
"What babe? C'mon, say it..." Khae gave Aiah a reassuring smile.
"I haven't told my p-parents about us." Aiah finally plucked up the courage to say it.
"And Tita Ivy doesn't know yet..."
"Ohh... I see." Khae does not know what to say. At the back of her mind, she's thinking, Why?
"I couldn't find the right timing to tell them."
"Do you really have plans to tell them?" Khae asked bluntly.
"O-of course." Aiah looked at Khae. Her facial expression is totally blank.
"What's stopping you, Aiah?" If I was able to tell my dad, why can't you do the same?
"I couldn't get the chance... My parents, they are not like your dad Khae, especially my dad."
Khae is just listening. She wants to understand why Aiah can't be as brave as her.
"They're strict. They are not open-minded when it comes to..." Aiah could not say it, she couldn't find the right words.
