chapter 10: i'll crush you, idiot

"Bakugo, what are you gonna do about this?" says Weird-hair. "Thanks to you we have a whole mob of haters now!" he complains, referring to the wannabes huddled by the door.

"I don't give a shit. I'm heading for the top, why should I care?" I shove past the crowd into the hallway. I don't have time to deal with these losers, I gotta prepare for the sports festival.

"Wait up, Kitty-kat!" I hear Glitch-girl call from behind me.

"Oh my god," I groan. "Stop following me!"

"No way! You're just such a joy to be around-" she says as she skips up next to me. "I'd miss you too much."

"You're annoying."

"Well, I just wanted to tell you..." she says as she flashes that mischievous smirk that I'm so tired of seeing. "...That I'm gonna kick your ass at the sports festival. You may have all these guys intimidated, but I know that I'm stronger than you. I've proved it, actually."

"Shut up!" I exclaim. "You haven't proved shit! You beat me one time and now you think you're hot shit, and you're not!"

"I have, and I am," she coos. "I'll prove it again at the sports festival."

I roll my eyes. "I'll kill you at the sports festival, Glitch-girl."

"I'd love to see you try!" she laughs as she skips down the hallway to where Weird-hair is waiting.

What the hell is wrong with that girl? One second she's kissing up to me, and the next, she's saying she's better than me? I can't tell if she wants to be friends or enemies. But I know two things for sure: 1. She's insane. 2. She's the most annoying person I've ever met in my life.

"And your student representative is... Katsuki Bakugo!"

Me? Well, figures. I am the best at this school after all.

I take the stage. "The athletes oath..." I repeat. "Make no mistake about it, I'm gonna take first place."

The mob of UA students boo and hiss at my declaration of superiority, which I knew they would. They all look so stupid when they're angry.

"You'll make great stepping stones, I'd say," I taunt as I flip them the bird.

As I step off the podium, I notice Glitch-girl in the crowd. Instead of booing like the others, she's standing there with her arms folded, grinning ear to ear. When she sees I'm looking at her, she gives me a thumbs up.

What the hell is she smiling for?

I walk up to her to see what her deal is. "What are you so happy about?" I ask.

"You're so cool, Bakugo! Flipping everyone off on live TV, saying you're gonna win instead of something gay and inspirational? So awesome!"

"Awesome?" Some loser from class B butts in. "He's an overconfident jerk!"

"Is he overconfident when he beats everyone?!" She glances at me. "Besides me, of course."

"I'll crush you too." I mutter.

"We'll see," she says with a smirk.
