"I'm sorry," Tomura says, before reaching his arms around me and pulling my body closer to his. "I never meant it to be this way. I never meant to hurt you."

I don't say anything back, but I bury my face into his shoulder with a long and shaky breath.

"I'm so glad you're okay," he says softly, "I don't know what I would have done if you weren't."

I peek over his shoulder at the room full of villains staring at us. "Get me out of here," I whisper. I feel absolutely mortified to be in their presence. I'm ashamed of my stupidity, and so fucking embarrassed of how gullible I've been.

Tomura nods, before taking my hand and guiding me down the hall into a dimly lit room with nothing in it but a small mattress and a table lamp on the floor. He walks me to the edge of the mattress, and drops my hand. "Here," he says, "Sit."

I sit down criss cross on the small bed with a huff, and he lowers himself into the spot next to me.

"I'm sorry you had to see that," he says, in a monotone voice. "I know it must've been hard for you."

"Yeah," I sigh. "But I guess it's better that I know the truth."

   He nods slowly.

I stare down at my lap in shame. "I'm sorry I doubted you," I say. "I should've known better."

He lifts up my chin with the side of his finger and points my face at his. "It's not your fault," he says, "You've always seen the good in people. It's not anything you did wrong, kitten. You just have a tendency to be naïve."

I bite the inside of my cheek. "I just can't believe they didn't value my life over capturing a few villains."

He looks at me solemnly, and sighs. "It's not just that," he says.

I furrow my brow slightly. "What, then?" I ask.

"They didn't let you die just because they didn't want to let us go."

"Then why did they?"

He licks his lips slightly, then bites them as he takes his fingers to his neck and begins to scratch. "Listen, kitten," he says, after a moment of itching. "This won't be easy for you to hear, so I don't want you to freak out."

I gulp, suddenly having the urge to do exactly that. "What is it?" I ask, anxiously.

"The heroes, they..." He then pauses, with a deep breath, followed by a long sigh. "They wanted you dead."

"Why?" I say, in disbelief. "What did I ever do to them?"

He stares at me longingly, then tucks a piece of hair behind my ear. "Did you tell anyone who you are? Who you really are?"

I look off to the side for a moment. "I was gonna tell Aizawa, but he already knew."

He nods knowingly, then looks down at me with an expression like he's trying to protect me from his own words. "Did you know about the case they've been building?" he says, in that same monotone voice that makes me so uneasy.

My heart begins to race. "What do you mean?" I say, suddenly a lot more nervous than before.

"The police have had a case open on you, the real you, ever since your disappearance. They linked you to the robberies years ago."

I furrow my brow. "They wanted me dead over that?"

"Well, you already knew you were one of the most wanted villains in the world, right?"
