"Second place? That's not so bad," I hear Soy sauce-face say.

"Yeah, but do you think that's how he feels, though?" mutters Kirishima, referring to me.

All of my muscles tense up as I let out a frustrated scream at the ground.

2nd place is not good enough! I need an indisputable 1st! I said I was going to win, and that's what I need to do! I can't get some half-assed first place on a technicality, I need to be the very best, and I need everyone to know it!

"Hey Kitty-kat." Glitch-girl places her hand on my shoulder. "I'm sorry I couldn't have been more of a help..." she says, sort of trailing off.

"Get off me!" I shoo her hand away, and the next thing I know, she hits the ground.

"Woah, Bakugo, what the hell?!" yells Kirishima as he rushes to her side.

"I didn't do anything! She just fell!" I exclaim, annoyed that this white knight is trying to put the blame on me just for shooing her hand away.

"He's right," she says wearily as she sits up, "I just fell. It wasn't his fault. I knew I shouldn't have glitched us that last time," she says with a sigh, "It didn't even help us."

"It's okay, Kaiya," says Kirishima. "We got back all those headbands because of you! We woulda lost without ya. I'm glad we were on your team."

"Thanks, Kiri," she says with a sheepish smile. She tries to stand up, but immediately falls back down.

"Woah, woah, woah, don't try to get up," Kirishima says, sounding concerned. "I'll get someone to take you to recovery girl, so hold tight!" He then runs off to the side of the stadium.

She sits crisscrossed, with an elbow on her knee, hand supporting her head. Her usually bright eyes are dull and dark, and her skin and lips are white. She looks like shit, which is saying something.

"Hey, are you like, okay?" I ask, annoyed at how weak she actually is even though she always goes around saying she's stronger than me.

"Yeah..." she says softly. "Again, I'm sorry I couldn't take us all the way to first place. I know how much you wanted it, I wanted it too," she says, slurring her words. "I'm not used to losing...well, losing on accident."

I scoff. "What do you mean losing on accident? You lose on purpose?"

She sways side to side. "Psh. You think I couldn't've beaten all of y'all in the obstacle race? I can literally teleport."

"Then why didn't you?"

"I have my reasons... I really did try to win this though, for you." Her voice sounds so weak, and she seems almost delirious. She begins to lay down.

"Woah," I crouch down next to her. "Dude, are you good?"

She nods subtly as her eyes flutter closed.

I nudge her. "Hey. Glitch-girl."

But she doesn't move.

I grab her shoulder and shake it lightly. "Hey."

Still no response.

"Hey," I say, shaking her a little harder. "Girl."

When she still doesn't move a muscle, I stand with a sigh. I look around the stadium. "Hey!" I call. "Can we get some help over here?!"

That's when I see two medic robots rushing onto the field with a stretcher, along with Kirishima.

He runs to her side. "Is she breathing?!" he asks, panicked.
