"I can't believe Shigaraki would threaten Deku out in the open like that," Kai says, gazing out the window.
"Yeah, what about it?"
She looks back at me. "I dunno. Pretty scary."
I scoff. "Aren't you the one that fought him solo at USJ? Don't tell me that loser has you scared now."
"Yeah, but that was different."
"How?"
She hesitates. "Um, All Might was there."
"And what? You don't think I could protect you as well as All Might?"
She smiles slightly and shakes her head. "I'm not worried about me, idiot. I'm worried about them," she says, gesturing to our classmates, who are all dicking around like usual.
I put my arm around her. "I think everyone can handle themselves, princess. Besides, I'm sure the pros have this covered. There's no way they'd let some jackass tail us all the way there."
"Whatever you say," she says with a shrug. "It's your turn," she says, referring to the music we're listening to through shared earbuds. "Don't pick another metal song, it's giving me a headache."
I roll my eyes. "It's not as bad as your damn Jimmy Buffet."
"Hey, don't hate on the JB. At least I don't listen to Mozart."
"How do you know about that?!"
After about an hour of bickering about what real music is, the bus finally comes to a stop. We're in a pretty desolate area, at an overlook with nothing but woods below. That's when a couple of pros with cat ears jump out out of nowhere and introduce themselves. One of them points at the base of a mountain several miles away, and tells us that's where we'll be lodging. She then proceeds to send us down a landslide into what they called the "Beast's Forest", expecting us to walk all the way there.
We're soon faced with some pretty decently sized dirt monsters. Everyone jumps into action, all working together to take each one down. But after a while, it starts to bore me. This is too easy, I want an actual challenge. I motion to Kai to follow me, and she glitches us up ahead, so we can fight the things just us two.
Working with Kai is a lot of fun, it's not too often that we're on the same team. We come up with several different combo moves using both our quirks, and after a while, it starts to get too easy again, so we decide to make it a game. We corral a group of them together, then Kai glitches another one in the air about 20 meters away. I use my blasts to propel it through the air to knock the rest of them over, and bam. That's 4 taken out at once. Monster bowling.
By the time Kai and I reach our lodging location, we're talking and laughing about how fun it was to knock those things around the forest. Beaming about our high score of 6 in monster bowling. But when the rest of the class arrives about 20 minutes later, they're not so amused.
"Yo, what gives?" huffs Dunce-face as he tries to catch his breath. "Two of the most powerful in our class just run ahead by themselves? What about us?"
"We left plenty for you," Kai remarks, and I snicker.
After the rest of the class gets through complaining about how "difficult" and "tiring" the forest was, we unpack our luggage, then head to the mess hall for dinner.
After getting our food, me and Kai sit down next to Kirishima (as per usual).
"So," he says in between shoveling mounds of rice into his mouth, "What'd I miss?"
"What do you mean?" says Kai.
"You two went from barely talking to each other and miserable, to inseparable and happier than ever. So, what'd I miss?"
"Well," Kai says with a smirk. "You didn't miss much."
"Hey, what's that supposed to mean?!" I yell, slightly offended.
What does she want from me?! I was unprepared!
Kirishima looks at us, clearly confused. "I don't get it."
"Yeah, I know you don't, dude," I say, patting his back.
Poor little virgin.
"You'll get some someday," Kai coos.
"Wait, what?" His expression turns from puzzled to horrified when it hits him. "Oh, you mean you- gross!" he says and covers his face with his hands. "I did not need to know that, you guys."
"Hey, you asked," I chuckle.
"So, what? You're living together, fighting dirt monsters together, holding hands in the hallway, fornicating, are you two finally official?"
"We are," Kai beams, and I smile. I'm glad she's as proud as I am about it.
"It's about time!" he chuckles. "I've been trying to get you two together since school started!"
"Yeah, Kiri. It's all thanks to you," says Kai, sarcastically.
After we eat, me and Kai are regrettably separated for the hot springs, and I'm slightly disappointed. I've gotten used to being with her all day every day, so it sucks when I can't see her, even if it's just for an hour or two. Time spent without her just feels like a waste.
Just as I lower myself into the nice, warm water, thinking I'm gonna have a moment to clear my head and relax...
"Bakugo!" shouts the pervert. "Were you really holding Miyasaki's hand the other day at school?!"
"I heard that too!" says Sero. "What, did you lose a bet or something?"
"More like win a bet!" Dunce-face chimes.
"Shut up! I'm not discussing my personal life with the lot of you!" I yell, slightly embarrassed to be put on the spot like that.
"Oh, come on Bakugo," Dunce-face goes, "You're the one who publicly displayed your affection, and now you're ashamed?"
"I'm not ashamed! What kind of idiot would be ashamed of his own girlfriend?!"
"Girlfriend?!" everyone says in unison.
I sink down further into the water.
"Bakugo... has a girlfriend?" says Icy-Hot.
"Inconceivable!" shouts the little creep.
What, these punks don't think I could get a girl?!
I suddenly have a change of heart. I jump out of the water, standing proudly. "That's right! And not only do I have a girlfriend, I have the best girlfriend! Now you can all cry yourselves to sleep knowing that Katsuki Bakugo has the girl of your dreams! Ha!" I shout, then splash back down into the water.
"Way to be subtle about it, bro," chuckles Kirishima as he shakes his head.
