Every prideful bone in my body begs me not to, but I pull out my phone and begin to type.

-Hey. I need to talk to you. Meet me at that restaurant in 30.

Not 10 seconds go by before I get a response.

   -Sure thing Bakubro!

I force myself to sit up, and swing my legs off the side of my bed.

I really, really, really don't want to go downstairs right now. I don't want to be bombarded with questions about where Kai is, what happened, any of that. I don't want to talk to anyone right now but Kirishima.

I stand up and slide my shoes on before slipping out my door and sneaking down the stairs as silently as possible. But of course, just my luck, the second to last step makes a squeak, and my mom pauses the tv.

"Katsuki?" she says. "Did you not hear me calling earlier?"

"No," I say, stepping into the living room. "I was asleep."

"Uh huh. Where's Kai?"

I sigh, letting out a slight groan. "She's gone, ok? I'm going to meet Kirishima at the café. I'll be back later."

"Gone?" she repeats.

"I don't know where she went!" I yell. I didn't mean to raise my voice like that, it surprised me a little. "She just said she was leaving," I say, much quieter, "And teleported away."

"Did she say why?"

"I don't want to talk about this, okay?!"

"Alright, but I want to talk about it when you get home," she says, then unpauses the tv.

I breathe a sigh of relief, and walk out the door.

My commute is uneventful. The sun has already set by the time I make it outside, but the sky still has a bit of light left. The streetlights flicker on as I walk to the train station, and the sky continues to darken as I make my way to the meeting place.

When I finally arrive, I spot Kirishima at our usual booth, studying the menu. I make my way over, and slide into the seat across from him.

"What's up, man?" he says with a smile.

"Kai's gone," I say, bluntly.

His smile suddenly disappears. "What do you mean, gone?"

"She's gone! She left! As in she's not here anymore!" I say, raising my voice in frustration at his stupid question.

"You mean, like, she took off?"

   "Yes."

   "Like, for good?"

"Do I have to spell it out for you?!"

He sits back in his seat a little. "Dude, no way. Kai would never just up and leave without saying bye first."
