35 - Payphone

The song continued and I sang along in my mind, conscious about the fact that I was in a public place and that Niall was beside me. Then, I stopped right in my tracks, realizing my favorite part was coming. A grin started tugging at the corners of my lips as I caught Niall’s attention.

“What’s wrong?” he asked me with a confused frown, stopping walking as well.

I fully let go and the grin took over, making me feel all giddy and happy. “My favorite part is coming,” I informed him.

If happy ever after did exist,

I would still be holding you like this.

All those fairytales are full of shit.

One more fucking love song, I’ll be sick.

You turned your back on tomorrow,

Cuz you forgot yesterday.

I gave you my love to borrow,

And you just gave it away.

You can’t expect me to be fine,

I don’t expect you to care.

I know I said it before

But all of our bridges burned down

I wasted my nights,

You turned down the lights,

Now I’m paralyzed.

Still stuck in the time,

When we called it love,

But even the sun sets in paradise.

“I never saw you as the cussing type,” niall mused when I was done with my Broadway scene.

I shrugged his comment of, just grinning apologetically. There was a whole side of me he did not know yet. But I surprised myself with the thought that I was more than willing to show it to him. “Well, when it comes to good songs, I do,” I replied after a while, shaking those thoughts off my head since they were no good right now.

He laughed out loud in the melodic way that was so characteristic of his and got an arm around my shoulders, sending a shiver down my spine once again. It seemed as if that were the normal reaction of my body around him, that and the butterflies fluttering inside my stomach.

Normally, searching for gummies would not take long, just a couple of minutes and it was done. But, for who knows what reason, it took us forever. I was just fine with that, though. Lux was not even going to notice we were gone if Louis and Liam continued to act the way they had before. She would be too worried being amused and estranged by them as to notice I was not there.

I continued singing along, until I felt his blue gaze on me. I sheepishly looked at him, losing myself in his currently ocean blue eyes. It was absolutely mesmerizing how they could change due to the weather, to how he was feeling, etcetera. My eyes were always brown, just plain brown.

I only laughed nervously, not knowing what else to do. Being around him made me forget everything else, which was quite embarrassing. My hands were probably sweating and I was praying he did not felt my body tense up under his touch. I just wanted him to like me so bad; maybe it was because I liked him a lot.

“Sorry,” I mumbled after a while, looking down to the floor just to hide the blush on my cheeks.

“What for?” he inquired and I could hear the confusion clear in his voice.
