26 - Cousins Are Great For Much Needed Pep Talks
Kaylie’s P.O.V.
New day, new adventure.
Right.
That is what I tried to convince myself of when I woke up. But it didn’t exactly work. I was a bit down after so much drama, my head was spinning and I was beyond dizzy.
I walked lazily to my cousin’s house, taking in everything on my way there. The streets were quite pretty today. The weather had finally picked up and summer was finally, well, summer. Because it is quite obvious that summer without sun and warmth is not summer. Actually, it should be sent to jail for pretending to be something it isn’t.
And I needed my summer. School this year had drained all my energy and I needed a break. I needed to go to the beach and have fun. I needed to eat ice cream cones every day or so. I needed to go for a run and pretend I was working out. I needed to stay up late and watch reruns of my favorite shows. And for all of that, summer was vital.
This was my favorite season. I could run and feel the warm wind on my skin. I could dip into the pools and have fun. I could put on a swim suit –because bikinis aren’t really my thing, I would have to have a killer body and let’s just say puberty hasn’t arrived yet- and run wildly and care freely while getting an uneven tan, unless I went to a nudist beach.
I smiled at the beautiful sky and crossed the street, happy to finally be able to wear sandals. I spotted Laura’s house and hurried my pace, excited to have a crazy fun weekend. We were celebrating the end of that horrible and nasty cold that had stricken us these past weeks. It was probably just an excuse to go out, but who said that was a crime?
I was quite happy as well because I was seeing Lux tomorrow and we were going to go to a water park and have some wicked time and tons of fun. Louise invited me to a lovely day with her family, which got me blushing because they said they wanted me there with them.
Tom, who was like the coolest father I have ever met –no offense to my own who could use a bit of workout and a couple of tattoos that assure me he had a good time when he was a teenager- was more than delighted and interested to talk to me when she invited me, but we were all in a hurry. I had to go home and they had to get into the SUVs that took them and the boys back to their hotel. But it was okay, we would have plenty of time tomorrow.
I had to beg my mom to let me go, though. When I told Louise, she called her and spent like an hour with her talking I don’t know what about. But that did not matter, for it worked. I needed to do all the cleaning and laundry on my own of the whole house this next month, but it would absolutely be worth it. Spending time with Lux out of that building where I did not have to worry about Zayn or Niall or Kennan or Paul was amazing -how could I have to worry about so much people all of a sudden?!
But the thing was that to spend time with Lux out of there, I would do it for the rest of my weekends alive! And even after life, it would be my purpose, or whatever it is called that you become after you die and stay around to accomplish your wishes. What can I say, I like paranormal stories as much as I like fan fiction since I heard about One Direction, Doctor Who and Wattpad.
Laura insisted on us going out today. And I was in it with her; I finally had money to buy clothing which I would need for my new year at school. I was going to become a junior, something good had to come out of that, I suppose.
I know the weekend should be the best part of my week after such a rough week, but I had had a couple of weird and obnoxious days that I could not let go of no matter how hard I tried. So no, I was not having fun this weekend, but I was going to try though.
