Chapter 38 - Seconds...

*2 Hours earlier*
Casey headed to the firehouse shortly after being with Cara. He was greeted by Kelly when he walked in
"How is she?" He asked
"Not great, why would they let him out? He nearly killed Cara" Casey said
"Dinner!" Cruz yelled
Kelly shot Casey a sympathetic look before walking into the common room. Casey sat to down to eat but something felt off to him, like something bad was about to happen.
"You good captain?" Herrmann asked
However Casey was in his own world
"Captain?" Herrmann asked
Casey still didn't reply
"Casey!" Kelly yelled
"Huh?" Casey said, snapping out of it
"You good?" Herrmann repeated
"Yeah" Casey smiled
"All Units, Apartment fire, 56th Westwood" The intercom echoed
The whole of the team got up and began to run out, Casey then stopped dead in his tracks.
"Casey?" Kelly asked
"That's Cara's apartment" He said
"Move your asses! We're getting to that apartment in a quarter of the time it would usually take us!" Kelly yelled as he ran out along with Casey
They arrived at the scene in 3 minutes, Cara's apartment was up in flames. Casey ran out
"Have you seen a woman? Red hair? About 5'5?" Casey yelled
"Nope" A woman replied
"How about you? Red hair? Brown eyes?!" Casey yelled as he ran over to a man
"She's the one that lives here right?" He asked
"Have you seen her?!" Casey yelled
"I think she's still inside" The man added
Casey then dropped his helmet and put on his mask
"What the hell are you doing?!" Kelly yelled
"She's still inside! I'm going in!" Casey yelled
"It's not stable, the roof could collapse at any second!" Kelly argued
"I'm not letting Cara die in here!" Casey yelled as he ran in
"Damn it Casey!" Kelly yelled as he put his mask on and followed Casey
Casey ran in and was greeted by a cloud of thick black smoke meaning the building was about to collapse at any minute.
"Cara!" He yelled as he navigated his way upstairs
"Casey?!" Kelly yelled
"She's in here! Hurry!" Casey yelled as Kelly walked towards his voice
Kelly then ran in to see Casey doing CPR on Cara
"She's not breathing! There's blood everywhere Kelly!" Casey yelled

"10 Minutes earlier"
Cara tried her best to keep the smoke from coming in her bedroom but it was just too much. Smoke quickly filled her room, she sat in the corner of her room. Directly under a shelf she stored pictures on. Cara tried her best to control her breathing, until she felt something hit her head and everything went black

"Present Time"
"The shelf hit her, we need to get her out of here!" Kelly yelled
"We need to stabilise her first! She won't be alive by the time we get out!" Casey yelled
"She'll have lost too much blood by the time she's outta here!" Kelly yelled
"She's not breathing Severide!" Casey yelled
"She could go into hypovolemic shock! We need to get her outta here!" Kelly yelled
"She needs to breath!" Casey yelled
"I'm sure she'll last 6 seconds whilst we get her out of here!" Kelly yelled
"I'm not loosing her! I'm not taking the chance!" Casey yelled as the roof began to crack
"Your not going to make it out if you continue!" Kelly yelled
"I'm not leaving without her! We never leave a victim behind! Now are you with me or not?!" Casey screamed
Kelly hesitated
"What do you need me to do" He sighed...
