Fundy sighed and walked over to the cliff, the wind rustling through the trees. He was about to take off his shoes, but was surprised to see a figure there before him. The figure seemed to have a braid in their hair and was about to-
Fundy didn't hear himself say it, but he screamed, "Hey, don't do it please!"
The girl with a braid stopped and turned to him, surprised. Fundy bit the inside of his lip and frowned, walking towards the braided girl. Opportunity missed.
The girl with braided hair looked back down as Fundy sat next to them. "I really thought that he'd be the one. But then he found another." The girl sighed, but flinched as Fundy scoffed.
"For God's sakes please! Are you serious? I just can't believe that for some stupid reason you got here before me. Are you upset 'cause you can't have what you wanted?" Fundy rubbed his arm. "You're lucky that you've never gotten robbed of anything."
"I'm feeling better, thank you for listening." The guy with braided hair smiled, and disappeared. Fundy looked at the spot they had sat in, and went home.
—
"Today's the day." Fundy mumbled, taking his shoes off. He looked up and saw a small girl, and his eyes widened as he screamed.
He sat down next to the small figure. "Everyone ignores me. Everyone steals. I don't fit in with anyone here." The small girl said sadly.
"For God's sake please! Are you serious? I just can't believe that for some stupid reason you got here before me. 'Cause even so you're still loved by everyone at home. There's always dinner waiting on the table, you know." His tail curled around his waist.
"I'm hungry," said the girl as she shed a tear. The girl short as can be then disappeared. Fundy went home.
—
And every day there was someone there to tell their tale. Fundy made them all turn away. But there was no one who could do it for him, no one to take all his pain.
—
But as Fundy approached the cliff, his breath hitched as he saw someone with his pains, having to do this over and over, wearing a yellow sweater.
"I want to stop the scars that grow every time I go home. That's why I came up here instead." That's what the girl in the sweater said.
What did he just say? But in the moment Fundy just screamed something that he could not believe.
"Hey, don't do it please!"
What do I do? Fundy thought. I can't stop this girl, this is new. God, I've bitten off more then I can chew.
"Even so, please just go away so I can't see your pitiful expression. It's too much for me." Fundy mumbled, crossing his arms.
"I guess today is just not my day." She looked away from him and then she disappeared.
—
Fundy looked around. There's no one here today, I guess it's time. He thought. Just me myself and I. There was no one who could interfere, no one to get in his way.
Taking off his yellow sweater, watching his braid come undone, this petite girl short as can be, is gonna jump now and be free.
