Wei Ying had tried not to tell his Shijie everything but that was just as hard as telling her everything...and really, she had just wanted to know if he was happy. When Wei Ying thought about that, he realised that yes, he was happy, and maybe she was right, maybe this was the right time for him.
If the Universe had decided he was going to meet the love of his life right now, who was Wei Ying to to mess it all up?
So he asked her if she was going to make any more chocolate bunnies, then could he please have twice as many, because he wanted to bring some as an apology and thank you gift for Lan Zhan.
She couldn't stop beaming and hurried down to prepare them.
After that, he'd had to knuckle down and work properly from nine to five with just a lunch break - his Shijie had left a plate full of goodies and a piece of chocolate cake just outside his living room door, covered in a steel dome.
Truly, life couldn't get much better.
***********
Before he set off in the morning, Wei Ying sent a text.
Lan Zhan! I'm on my way! I should reach you in exactly five minutes. And guess what? I have a surprise.
He finished off with two perfectly fluffy bunnies sleeping next to each other, the white one with a blue ribbon and the black one had a red ribbon tied around its ear. Wei Ying thought they were extremely cute and Lan Zhan would be happy about that at least.
He didn't stop to wait for Lan Zhan's reaction because it was getting late.
Now that he knew how much traffic was going to block his route, Wei Ying ended up taking another way and actually reached there earlier. As per the day before, he secured his bike and entered through the massive glass doors, just as in awe of them as the first time he had seen them.
But today, to his surprise, Lan Zhan was waiting by the doors.
His golden eyes softened immeasurably, crinkling at the edges as the ghost of a smile danced upon his soft looking lips, and Wei Ying was reminded of the feel of them against his skin. He blushed and bounced up to him.
"Good morning, Lan Zhan!" He greeted him brightly. "How are you today?"
"This is for Wei Ying." He answered instead, putting something around Wei Ying's neck.
Wei Ying tried to see what it was but both of his hands were busy; Lan Zhan saw his struggle and took some of the packages from him so one of his hands was free.
It was a lanyard complete with his photo.
"So Wei Ying can come and go as he pleases." Lan Zhan turned around to glare at the burly security guy, who was quaking in his shoes. "They will not stop Wei Ying again." He added.
"Ah...I think there's been a misunderstanding." Wei Ying tried to explain, but Lan Zhan was already taking his elbow and escorting him away. "They really did help me yesterday, Lan Zhan!"
But it didn't seem to matter to Lan WangJi.
At all.
The elevator came quickly and as they got in, Wei Ying realised something.
"Hey, if I can carry all this by myself, then I should have just given you everything there...then there'd be no need for me to come all this way..." He petered off.
Why was Lan Zhan glaring at the floor now?
"Does Wei Ying have somewhere else he would rather be?"
Wei Ying was asked this rather curtly.
