"To survive, you must tell stories." Umberto Eco

A-Yuan was ready extra early on Thursday.

Wei Ying eyed him over the rim of his chocolate latte, smiling fondly. They got to school on time and then A-Yuan was running off to play with JingYi, when he came back at full speed. He latched on to Wei Ying's thigh and beamed up at him.

"Baba?"

"Mn?" Wei Ying picked him up, blushing at how much he had sounded like Lan Zhan.

"Are we going to see Beautiful Gege today?"

The question was quite unexpected and Wei Ying wasn't sure what to say. Should he say yes and then what if Lan Zhan didn't come? Or should he say no? Just so A-Yuan wouldn't have false expectations?

He and Lan Zhan had plans today of course, but Wei Ying did not want to presume anything on Lan Zhan's part; that was the sole reason for his hesitance. So he opted for the safe option.

"I don't know, my darling baby."

A-Yuan pouted.

Wei Ying lost the fight not to kiss his pudgy cheeks, blowing raspberries until A-Yuan was laughing so hard he couldn't catch his breath.

"Alright, I know we are definitely going to see Beautiful Gege on Saturday." He admitted, smiling at the happiness in his son's eyes.

He feared both A-Yuan and himself were powerless not to succumb to Lan Zhan's charms...but the uncertainty which lay upon that path was akin to thorns, and Wei Ying did not want to risk A-Yuan getting hurt.

"Okay! See you later, Baba!" A-Yuan wriggled free and ran off laughing, joining his friend with glee.

Wei Ying decided to ditch the chores today and have some fun, so he made his way straight to the Institute.

Hank was his usual cheery self, sauntering up to him when he finished with security.

"Today's a bit of an odd day," He remarked, bouncing on his heels.

"Really? And why is that?"

"Well, you know how by now, we can normally tell what kind of people have legitimate business here?" Hank looked thoughtful.

"Yeah?" Wei Ying paused on his way to the fiction side of the Institute.

"Well, this one guy came in, and he looked really angry. Not the usual crowd, that's all. And he was in and out, left almost as soon as he got in. Which is kind of strange, you've got to admit."

Wei Ying patted his arm.

"He might have needed a restroom. Indigestion is a thing, you know." Wei Ying adopted a wise tone.

Hank seemed reassured by that, and he smiled.

"You're right, that's totally possible. He could've just asked though."

"People can be embarrassed by the slightest things." Wei Ying winked at him.

"Well, if I see Mr. Diarrhea around here again, I'm going to throw him out. Our toilets are for people who actually use the library, not for some upstart." Hank replied indignantly.

"Mr. Diarrhea ..." Wei Ying chuckled to himself and walked away.

He pulled out his phone and quickly texted Lan Zhan, sending him a gif of two rabbits kissing.

They were so cute! It was bound to make Lan Zhan smile.

Lan Zhan was just making his way to the foyer when his phone pinged and he excitedly retrieved it from his pocket. He had just waved hello to his brother, so it could only be one other person.
