"There is no charm equal to tenderness of heart." Jane Austen

Jiang Cheng was feeling...actually, he didn't know how he was feeling. That was the honest truth.

It all started on the day Wei Ying was trapped under his boyfriend...and what a storm in a teacup that turned out to be, but then, to be shown up single handedly by Lan XiChen's arm strength - yes, only the one arm was used - when neither himself nor the Peacock were able to move that hulking mass, not even together as a joint effort was it possible for them...but that freakishly strong guy had moved his brother as if he weighed no more than a feather.

And then...if that fact alone was not bad enough, somehow he had managed to catch the eye of the strong one...and Jiang Cheng still wasn't sure how to deal with that.

Whenever there was something on with Wei Ying, that man would be there.

Discussion of wedding plans, he was there.

Engagement party, he was there.

Babysitting A-Yuan and A-Ling, he was suddenly there...

Jiang Cheng couldn't catch a break.

And even if he had turned up, he always, always found a way to sit right next to Jiang Cheng. And he would edge closer and closer, while Jiang Cheng tried shifting away a centimetre at a time.

At one point, he hadn't been paying attention and Lan XiChen's thigh was right up close to him, the heat - did all Lans run this hot? - through their thin trousers was phenomenal...

And if that wasn't bad enough, the younger brother, who seemed to hate his guts on account of Wei Ying and their past history, which to be fair, wasn't even his business, and anyway, wasn't it all in the past? But evidently not for him...

That aside, Lan Zhan found another reason to hate him because of whatever crazy ideas were running in that gorgeous head of the older brother...gorgeous?? Who said that? Nobody, that's who...

So on the one hand, he was dealing with a sticky man who thought Jiang Cheng was the honey and he was the bee, and dodging him became a game of futility, and on the other side, both his Shijie and stupid Wei WuXian were constantly pushing him towards a relationship he wasn't sure he wanted.

Things came to a head the night they came over to Wei Ying's home to discuss wedding plans...the idiot wasn't prepared anyway...and casually dismissed the whole thing, like he wasn't going to be upset if every single detail wasn't correct...and Jiang Cheng was tired of having to see them kiss all the time!

He had the gut feeling that Lan Zhan was a petty man, and just to piss him off, became more and more outrageous in his partaking of PDA...and Jiang Cheng would like to freely admit it made him uncomfortable.

His own brother had the modesty of a peacock but since they already had one of those...

So he had stomped off into the kitchen to grab a glass of water...and who should follow him there but the honey bee?

Lan XiChen was certainly persistent, Jiang Cheng had to admit.

And good looking...

He wanted to kick himself for that thought!

Right now, those honey coloured eyes were darkening with every passing second...and Jiang Cheng felt trapped, unable to move this way or that.

XiChen's steps came towards him, and Jiang Cheng walked backwards, matching his feet, survival instinct kicking in...and why did that make the other smile? He was the yellow-eyed lion, looking at his next meal...and Jiang Cheng...wanted nothing to do with him.
