Wen Ning reported no traces of the person who had activated the Curse, in the boarding house, and Wen Qing treated the patient so that he was going to make a full recovery.

"There's not much else we can do, aside from waiting," Jiang Cheng mutters truthfully. "We can't identify who the curse was meant for, nor is there any indication of who might have cast it in the first place."

Wei Ying agrees with him but he's not in any actual hurry to get back to their headquarters, not when the painful reminder of his past awaits.

"Anyone hungry?" He asks hopefully, looking around at their disbelief.

"If you woke up at a reasonable hour, you'd have time for breakfast," Wen Qing smacks the back of his head lightly.

Jiang Cheng and Wen Ning both don't dare to get involved. Wen Qing is formidable, and she's right, and they all know this is procrastination at its best, so they stare at Wei Ying until he activates the transportation talisman to land them back outside the school.

They're immediately greeted by a senior student.

"Song Laoshi requests your presence in the Greeting Room," she says, before hurrying away, grinning. "It's urgent."

Something has definitely happened, and Jiang Cheng shares a knowing look with Wei Ying.

"I bet it has to do with those two," he says, grimacing.

Wen Qing taps Wei Ying's shoulder. "Do you need us to come in with you guys?" She raises a brow at Jiang Cheng, who has a hard time suppressing his shiver.

If it came to fighting against the Qiongqi beast or saying one word against Wen Qing, Jiang Cheng would pick the former, hands down and with no regrets.

Wei Ying considers it, but eventually shakes his head.

Even if he didn't have Jiang Cheng with him, Song Lan and of course, Xiao XingChen, would have his back. The latter two were the official 'face' of the school and dealt with any enquiries, whether that was new applications for students, or requests for help, which was what the Twin Jades had alluded to as the reason for their visit.

Wei Ying watches Wen Qing throw an arm around her brother's waist, quizzing him on random diseases and their cures as they walk away. It's nice to know that he has people on his side, even apart from his own siblings. In fact, if he asked any member of this school, kids included, he had no doubts that they wouldn't hesitate to come to his aid, and the truth was, he wouldn't even have to ask: they'd line up in front of him against any threat without batting an eyelid.

But even more accurately, Wei Ying would never do that.

He's always led by example and his first thought would always be putting himself between his students and all the people he loves, and any threat or danger.

Even if he was in love with the threat, in this case.

Jiang Cheng doesn't say anything as they slowly make their way to the administrative office in the main building.

Wei Ying is glad for the quiet few minutes it takes for them to reach their destination, using the time to bolster his confidence.

He's a successful Cultivator, and though he's had help in building up this school and churning out excellent members of society, all of whom thrive with the core values he's tried to instil within them of helping those less fortunate without personal gain, he knows that he himself is a well-respected member of a larger family not necessarily blood-related. Theirs is a community of mutual trust and respect, based on skills and moral values, a fantastic foundation for learning.
