Wei Ying was running home, trying not to be late.

But in between the bus not coming and his shift at the pharmacy lasting longer than he expected because Mrs Jones had come in to tell them that her husband had passed away and to discontinue his medication, but then he couldn't just let her go like that, and she had sat down on his stool and told him all about her life, this was unavoidable.

He grinned when he saw the curtain move and then the door opened...Lan Zhan had stayed up for him.

"Lan Zhan..." He wheezed, trying to get his breath back. "I'm....so...sorry..." He held up his phone.

Lan Zhan closed the door behind him, absolutely no change on his face except a mild concern in his golden eyes. He put a warm hand on Wei Ying's shoulder and took his phone.

Wei Ying tried not to, but he couldn't help shivering at the contact. It was summertime and his jacket was tied around his waist; Lan Zhan was touching a really thin cotton t-shirt and Wei Ying could feel the heat down to his toes.

Lan Zhan frowned at his dead phone, understanding that it was the reason Wei Ying hadn't been able to call. He went to put it to charge immediately.

Ever since he had crashed into Lan Zhan on that first day of Uni, they had become fast friends, coincidentally studying to become doctors together, and then the fact that they shared many of the same classes meant it just made sense to share an apartment.

The problem was, Wei Ying was worried that their simple friendship wasn't enough...not any more.

Lan Zhan was hot.

Not like melted ice cream on a summer's day hot, but hot, hot.

It wasn't fair either, because Lan Zhan wasn't gay...but as to the truth of that statement, Wei Ying wasn't too sure. So far, Lan Zhan hadn't shown any interest in girls, naked or otherwise because Wei Ying had become a teenie bit desperate to find out...and he had left a playboy magazine in their living room...just to get a reaction.

But...nothing.

In fact, it was still there. Under the coffee table...and things were awkward now. If Wei Ying disposed of it now, because it was such a waste of ten dollars, Lan Zhan would think he liked it...when the opposite was true.

Wei Ying's preferences had made themselves clear from the moment he had stared into pale golden eyes, intense and dangerous looking. Lan Zhan was slightly taller than himself and he had reached out to steady Wei Ying, grabbing his arm to stop them both falling over...and that was it.

Wei Ying could pinpoint the exact time he fell in love with Lan Zhan...his now roommate. The first day of September in the year of twenty twenty two, at exactly one pm.

In the cafeteria.

After that, everything reminded Wei Ying of Lan Zhan's beautiful eyes. From the falling golden leaves, every one as beautiful as those intense orbs, to even the yellow traffic lights.

Yellow sweatshirts, yellow lollipops - Wei Ying had an addiction - yellow bananas, yellow flowers, anything with a hint of that damn colour and Wei Ying couldn't stop daydreaming about a certain someone.

A certain someone who went out of his way to make sure Wei Ying ate on time, got to his classes on time, and got to his work on time too.

Even now, Wei Ying could smell his favourite lotus flower and pork rib soup simmering in the kitchen...and was that also freshly baked bread?

"I could kiss you right now..." He murmured, now embarrassed because his stomach was housing a feral wild animal, its cries deafening to him too, and he didn't notice the way Lan Zhan slammed the refrigerator door to get him a soda.
