"Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body." Joseph Addison

Lan Zhan reached for Wei Ying’s hand but he had already whirled away, his mind buzzing with too many thoughts. He started pacing, and muttering to himself.

"Hanguang-Jun...Hanguang-Jun...but how? No way...." and then Wei Ying kept pausing at the different pairs of eyes, and then would turn back to stare at him.

"I don't understand." He said finally, giving up.

Lan Zhan was by his side in an instant, holding him close.

"I am still your Lan Zhan. Nobody else. Please..."

"But Lan Zhan...I can't mix the two of you. I can say I believe you, but it's really hard. It's not going in." Wei Ying protested weakly.

Lan Zhan didn't know what to do.

Of all the possible reactions Wei Ying could have had, Lan Zhan had never thought disbelief to be one of them. It seemed to throw him off balance so that even their deep love was in jeopardy.

"This...this is real." Lan Zhan crashed their lips together in desperation, wanting to bring them back to the place they were before. This chemistry was real, born from love and he would do anything to revive his place in Wei Ying's heart right now.

Lan Zhan poured everything he had into this kiss, not letting Wei Ying waver, trying to bring back their stability. And for a few minutes, it seemed like it was working. When they parted, Lan Zhan was a little smug about Wei Ying's bruised lips, his granite eyes ravishingly wild.

"What does Wei Ying think?" Lan Zhan asked tentatively now.

"Lan Zhan...I think...I think I still need time. I want to sort out my thoughts...you know A-Yuan comes first. Please...give me time." He was looking hopefully at Lan Zhan.

"Wei Ying can have all the time in the world. I only want Wei Ying to be happy." Lan Zhan replied. "And it is important for Wei Ying to tell me how he feels. I will listen." He promised.

"Lan Zhan...?"

"Mn?"

"Can I have a hug?"

Wei Ying sounded so small and defenseless then, Lan Zhan immediately complied, kissing his forehead.

"I am here. Wei Ying should never have to ask. All of my hugs are his...and A-Yuan's."

"Good answer." Wei Ying kissed his throat. "What about your Xiongzhang? Aren't you going to save any hugs for him?"

"One."

"Just the one?" Wei Ying grinned cheekily at him. "Wait till I tell him!"

Lan Zhan was suitably panicking.

"Wei Ying does not need to tell Xiongzhang anything..."

"But Lan Zhan...what if it just fell out of my mouth?" Wei Ying beamed at him for playing along.

"Then Wei Ying's mouth needs to be kept busy..." Lan Zhan smirked.

"Lan Zhan! So shameless!!! What has happened to you?" Wei Ying clutched his chest in a mock accusation.

Lan Zhan merely smiled.

"Wei Ying has happened to me. This Lan Zhan has fallen in love." This time, joking aside, Lan Zhan was deadly serious.

"You're such a sweet talker!" Wei Ying reached up to kiss him lightly. "Shall we go find A-Yuan?"

"Mn. Let's go." Lan Zhan quickly covered the open paintings with the bits of calico he had tossed upon the floor.
