Lan WangJi was vexed.

He put down his brush and visibly shuddered at his thoughts: what if Suibian was the Jiang Sect heir?

His mind was confused, because he had definitely heard that phrase before, the one that had carried on the wind, about making faces...and although he didn't want to meet Suibian just yet, he couldn't help speculating...what if...

But his mind rebelled.

When he thought of the Jiang Clan, one person stood up and above all the others, namely Wei WuXian, their head disciple.

Lan WangJi had never seen such a beautiful man before...but it was just his luck, the downside here was that said man just could not keep his mouth closed. Even now, with his head full of images of him, hanging off his brother, or more annoyingly, Nie Huaisang, his facial expressions so animated, and his hand gestures articulating all of his thoughts, and yet...Lan WangJi was still undecided on whether he wanted to kiss him or fight him again.

That night, when he first had caught the naughtiest disciple alive trying to break into Cloud Recesses...wait, he had already broken in, past their carefully constructed wards, and was trying to sneak in, Wei WuXian had defended himself without even brandishing his sword, which by itself was very unusual.

Lan WangJi had never seen a wooden scabbard before, much less wielded with such precision and skill, and yes, he would admit if pushed to it, they were evenly matched, but why, oh, why was he so irritating? And so beautiful?

His golden face was flushed with the effort of trying to evade Bichen, his eyes sparkling with silver mischief, and those heavenly lashes long and elegantly sweeping his lovely rosy cheeks...a masterpiece of grace...until he opened his mouth.

And then, the terrible feelings of guilt possessing his mind when Lan WangJi thought of Suibian...didn't he like him instead? What the heck was happening to him?

But all these horrible thoughts swirling inside his head served no purpose at all, except to give him a headache, and he still had to inform Suibian of their drop-off point.

So Lan WangJi let out a resigned sigh, and continued to write.

Dear Suibian,

I have selected a place where we can leave things for each other. Perhaps if we assign times, we will not run into each other, and this will preserve the anonymity that we have both come to treasure.

It is a hidden tree stump under the bridge by the guest residences. That way, even if it's late, you may still be able to visit it without rousing suspicion.

I was thinking even of ditching the service that delivers our letters to each other, if Suibian is in agreement. But let's take things slowly. How about I visit our place in the mornings, and in the evenings, it can be your turn? I hope this acceptable.

I have been busy these past few days and judging from the behaviour of this one individual, it looks like I'll be spending the rest of the year supervising this idiot.

Anyway, if it's anything, my brain seems to equate his every nuance as being desirable, and I'm torn between wanting to bite him or kiss him. Hard.

Both options.

But bizarrely, I cannot...because it feels like I am being unfaithful to our friendship.

Sincerely yours, in frustration,

Bichen.
