"YOUR HIGHNESS, YOUR MAJESTY! THE FORCES FROM CRESENCIA HAVE ARRIVED!" The knight from outside started pounding the door harder but Asher could not move. In front of him, Pier's eyes were glowing in a threatening manner and it was terrifying him.

"Sit down, Prince Asher. You don't want his majesty to get mad now, don't you?" Gideon asked him and Asher clenched his fists.

It was heartbreaking and overbearing for him.

His people were asking for his help and presence outside but instead, he was stuck here fearing for his own safety in front of Pier and the new individuals coming from the Kingdom of Mir.

Finally making up his mind, he turned his back at them and started walking towards the door where the knight was crying for his help.

He could not abandon them. Not now, not ever.

It was his duty as the crown prince to defend his kingdom until his last breath and ignoring the calls of his people does not justify the position he stands at.

Asher wanted to sit down and talk with Pier. He wanted to know what happened and know the reason for Pier's sudden appearance as well as his claim to be in the position of a king.

But he couldn't.

Not when his people are outside bleeding and dying.

He had been too selfish already when it comes to Pier and he desired to change that. He cannot be selfish this time and choose what his heart wants.

Despite his strong urge to talk with Pier and the other people from the new kingdom, he should fulfill his duties as the crown prince and the remaining royal that could fight.

"Oh no, wrong move."

He heard Gideon speak.

'Wrong move?' He thought about the consequences. What could happen if he does not follow Pier's commands? He was, after all, a prince of another kingdom that is not subjected to Pier's rules even if the latter was indeed a king.

'The wrong move is when I leave my people-' He did not even get to finish his thought when the doors were covered with thick ice and spikes made out of the material sprouted.

Asher stiffened with his hand reaching out to the door's knob.

One ice spike was close to piercing his hand and that left him horrified.

"When Pier says 'sit', sit the fucking hell down, bastard," A man spoke beside him and shivers ran down Asher's spine.

"Be like your pathetic lady and go back," Ciaran threateningly spoke.

Gritting his teeth, Asher's hands went to grab the golden sword beside him but another voice chimed in their conversation.

"Grab your sword and go outside. I dare you. You're not even a swordmaster and you think you can defeat a beastmaster that controls terrifying monsters outside?" Pier mocked him and that made Asher hesitate.

A beastmaster in comparison with the sword is someone who reached the epitome of relations with creatures.

If a swordmaster is at the sword's highest expertise, a beastmaster can manipulate monsters and magical beasts that could invade kingdoms by themselves.

"Look at you, hesitating like a small shrimp facing the battle of whales," Pier's mockery was the only thing they could hear in the room but another laugh soon added to the white-haired king's sentiments.

"He's right, Ashit. Go back and sit in the chair before I ignore my Pier's words and behead you," Ciaran spoke and chuckled too. His scythe neared Asher's neck and almost touched the skin.
