"Ciaran, come! Let us talk with your shadow!" Pier called out to him and the vampire king hesitatingly moved forward to stand beside his lover.

Once he reached Pier, the vampire king gulped a few times in anxiousness.

He was reigning control over the mythical beast and it was calm as it laid on the sandy shore of the island while being covered in ice.

"My magic will not break. I incorporated Melfar's magic with it and even other sovereigns will not break it," Pier assured him which relieved the green-eyed man.

His nervousness about losing his control over the shadow disappeared as he fully trusted Pier.

The two then faced the silent creature.

"So, this is a basilisk, huh." Pier was astounded with the creature's size and length. It's as if it could wrap its body on the entire fifth mountain of Mir and still tower its head over the clouds.

It was extremely long that it could probably surpass the island's length too. It resembled a dragon's face but it does not have wings nor legs.

The basilisk was a pure serpent and the strongest of its kind. One gaze in its eyes could kill you and its strength alone was enough to cause chaos in every land.

"And you said the other candidates killed this creature?" Pier shivered slightly when he thought about it.

Right now, if he were to see it, if he and the frozen basilisk were matched in a duel, the chances would be fifty-fifty.

He might lose as it would be hard to battle a creature that swiftly moved through the land and air while avoiding its eyes.

Pier was not invisible. He cannot escape the basilisk's gaze and if he were to be seen by it during a battle, he might die.

'Yet other creatures were able to fully eliminate it from the list of candidates,' Pier thought as a somber look made its way on his face.

The feeling of dread became prominent as he realized how serious the situation would be soon. It was not like the times when he always won, when he always succeeded.

There are times Pier faced great repercussions after using his magic but it couldn't be considered a loss since he fulfilled his goals but looking at the thing in front of him...

If other creatures that resided on the northern oceans of Cresencia were able to kill it...

'I'll lose. We'll lose,' He admitted.

Reaching his hand out, Pier touched the head of the basilisk.

The rough scales of the creature closely resembled that of a dragon and though its eyes were covered, he still remembered how fierce the black orbs were the moment it was released from Ciaran's void.

It was terrifying.

In comparison with the hydra that had unlimited regeneration abilities, Pier thought the two creatures would be in the same ranking.

But in the case of the hydra, it can regenerate, yes, but with Ciaran and Gideon fighting with him, they were able to take it down.

Yet this one...

"Powerful..." Pier spoke under his breath as he came to a conclusion of how powerful this shadow was.

"I command thee as the candidate's saint, reveal your voice and speak," Pier closed his eyes before black smoke appeared from his feet.

The smoke then wafted through the air until it touched the giant serpent's head.

"Grrr..." the basilisk growled after it was called by the young king.
