"S-Son?" Asher asked with wide eyes wherein Pier nodded his head.
The two royals of Taron were dumbfounded as they stared at the child that was happily squealing as the hand of the swordmaster ruffled his hair.
Then Asher and Henry carefully observed him.
Hair as dark as nightfall.
Eyes as blue as the endless skies.
"Pier..." King Henry subconsciously spoke when he analyzed Raegan.
No, he was too anxious and nervous around Pier and Ciaran that he did not focus too much on the child. He was too lax in noticing the features of the small individual brought by the former young master.
"Pier?" The white-haired king asked and soon, he chuckled as he found it entertaining.
"Does he remind you of me when I was younger, King Henry?" He asked and crossed his arms now. His own blue eyes never ceased to leave the two red-haired royals that were sitting on their respective spots stiffly.
"Dark hair, vibrant blue eyes, his features exactly like mine when my ice magic did not manifest yet." Pier gazed at Raegan and the little child looked back at him.
"He's... your son..." Asher repeated again as he seemed to be in a trance while observing Raegan carefully.
Shivers ran down his spine and his hair stood.
The child was the carbon copy of Pier. Only it had a taller frame and a better build when he remembered the time he first met Pier in the palace.
But another question arose in his mind.
'How...'
Asher turned to look at Pier and saw that the white-haired king was now looking at him.
With a little smirk on his face, Pier was eyeing Asher as if he was mocking the Crown Prince.
"Did he remind you of lil' old me, Asher? The Pier who used to chase you around..." Asher's hands trembled underneath the table.
His head started to spin.
"The Pier who used to give you endless gifts just so you would look in his way?" The prince's heart pounded in his chest as he started to become dizzy.
"The Pier who proposed his love for you without fail yet not once..." The little smile on Pier's face slowly disappeared as he seemed to purposefully remind Asher of everything that transpired between them.
"Not once did you see him the way he saw you." Asher's shoulders started to shake as his breath became heavy.
His heart was suddenly filled with an unknown void that made him hurt. It felt like thousands of daggers were piercing his own chest at this moment.
"Not once did you try to console him when the world was looking down on him." A pang of guilt echoed inside the prince's mind and slowly, his tears started to brim his eyes.
"The world stepped on him while you were leisurely enjoying how it lifted you." Henry on the other was having a hard time seeing his oldest son shiver and writhe in inward pain as Pier spoke the words that he knew pierced Asher's heart.
"Pier- hic!" But the moment he addressed Pier by his name alone, a sword was pointed in his neck.
No, even with his years in training the sword and magic, he never once encountered such incredibly fast movement.
