"Raegan!" Pier exclaimed but it was too late.

Sizzle...

Flesh came in contact with the deadly and poisoned land that the skin immediately started boiling as if being poured on by a strong acid.

Surprised by the sudden action, a delay in the reaction of the people watching.

The vampires, the swordmaster, as well as Pier. They lagged a second behind in processing what had just happened.

"Don't go beyond past the darkened land, Raegan," the man warned as he retrieved his hand that had its skin ripped off and blood oozing out.

His voice was gentle and calm while pulling the kid's arm back with a smile on his face.

"Father..." Raegan, too, was surprised by the sudden intervention of his father, the vampire king.

"Ciaran!" Pier's eyes widened when he saw the sorry state Ciaran's hand was in.

He hurriedly ran towards his lover and grasped the man's arm that was bleeding nonstop.

"Raegan! Are you okay?!" Pier asked with a horrified voice as he also carried the small dragon in his arms.

"Y-Yes..." Raegan apologized when he saw that his father's face was somehow contorted into a pained expression.

"The poison really is toxic, it hurts," Ciaran spoke as he winced in pain.

Flick!

"Ouch!"

"You idiot!" But instead of getting sympathy from his lover, his forehead was flicked.

"Look at your hand, you stupid vampire king!" Pier glared at him while hurriedly casting his magic spell.

A liquid-like flow appeared in his palms and went directly in Ciaran's arm.

The other vampires stood at the back not knowing what to do.

Raegan seemed like he was about to cry from Pier's frantic statements whereas, Ciaran only stood there too with a smile on his face while watching the white-haired king fret over him.

"My liege..." Gideon sweatdropped.

Pier paused and halted as he tried to regain his control over himself.

"Goodness, I almost had a heart attack," Pier embraced Raegan tighter.

"How'd you come here? I thought you were in bed?" He cooed and cradled the dragon.

"I was... I came along with Uncle Giddy, dad..." Raegan spoke in a small voice and Pier's gaze was diverted immediately to the swordmaster.

Raising his eyebrow, Pier gave him a questioning look.

"U-Uhm..." Gideon looked away.

"Gideon," Pier spoke in a threatening voice and the swordmaster flinched.

"I apologize, my liege! Prince Raegan said he wanted to meet another dragon aside from the blue one within me so I brought him along with us! I was supposed to watch over him but I was enamored by my liege's magic and the dead land that I momentarily forgot his highness-"

"Enough," Pier stopped the knight's ramblings because he knew Gideon could go on forever.

"It was my fault that his majesty was hurt, my liege!" Gideon's lips downturned whereas Pier rolled his eyes.

"I wasn't your fault, another stupid man," Pier cursed and returned his glare to Ciaran.

He watched as the flesh and the wound started to heal. Steam rose from the vampire king's poisoned hand as the healing magic combatted the poison that entered his hand.
