the phone buzzed, and almost immediately jaemin was greeted with an angry renjun, not ready to listen to whatever he is going to say. "what the fuck do you even want?! i thought we were over this-"

"shut up. i'm not here to talk about that," jaemin cut him off stoically as he handed the phone over to the crying maknae. "here, tell him what happened. sungie will get the karma he deserves."

chenle took the phone with trembling hands as he heard the familiar voice of renjun, bitching on about how jaemin's an idiot and couldn't handle a single relationship properly. "gege...? you there...?"

the line went silent for a good 5 seconds until renjun responded. "oh lord, what happened to your voice? did jisung do something to you?!"

"well...he said that he hates me now...and slapped me in the face..." chenle said laboriously, words struggling to come out of his mouth, until he could not stop the urge to cry. "w-what should i even do..."

"he did all that?! i swear, that child needs help," renjun said angrily. "anyways, do one thing. you can stay with us until he gets fed up and comes back to you. trust me, that'll work. is that alright with you?"

"alright..." he said feebly, his voice plummeting into a diminuendo. he hung up after that, making jaemin heave a sigh in relief and regret.

"so...you're going with them or not?"

chenle fell silent for a while as he collected all his thoughts together. "yes...but i really don't know if he'll change his mind."

🍂

jisung woke up to the sounds of slight whimpers and barks localized to his hands. he opened his eyes and looked down to see daegal whimpering while she looked longingly at the door, barking in agony a few times.

he looked around to see what happened. the door to chenle's room was open, but he wasn't there. he left the place before jisung could do anything, leaving him and the bichon.

"where's your owner...?" jisung gently asked daegal as he kept her down, which made her immediately run towards the front door, scratching hopelessly at the wood, trying to get her owner back. she started to whimper and bark desperately at the wood after a few hopeless attempts.

jisung stared at the bichon with tired eyes as he recalled what exactly happened— chenle calling his mom as his in-law triggered something in him, he retorted at him and slapped him in the face, and then he left the place without even bringing the bichon with him.

jisung was still right, and he knew that. but whatever he did was a stupid move on his behalf.

"alright now, i'll be taking care of you for the time-being," he took the bichon in his hands, hoisting her up and into the warmth of his arms. "let's just wait until he comes back."

daegal squirmed in his grasp, still unhappy that her owner was somewhere far away and she couldn't cuddle with him, but slowly, she adjusted in his grasp as she whimpered, waiting for chenle to come back.

🍂

chenle knocked on the familiar door he saw a few hours ago, which revealed renjun who was waiting for him all this time. "did he still apologize to you?" he asked as he took his bags from him.

"not yet...he didn't even care..." chenle said in a broken voice, trying not to break down once again. "he doesn't even care if i'm with him or not..."

"it's fine, he's just a bit stubborn at times, you don't have to worry, alright?" renjun reassured him and let him in, while he was still not convinced.
